I spent the night at Maison Borella in the lively area called Navigli. The room was quiet, clean and the reception efficient and very helpful. Breakfast is not what Italy is known for, it was ok but not more than that but for the rest, perfect. I would go back without question.

This is a very pleasant hotel situated beside a canal. The location is great with bars and restaurants nearby. The small bar area is open to residents and dinners only. Hotel I s based around a small courtyard with spacious rooms. Staff helpful and breakfast good.

We were told that in the summer, Navigli is always crowded with people strolling down the street to enjoy the restaurants and canal. When we went, the crowds were there during the day on the weekend. This hotel has a great location to duck in for peace and to be in the mix of the activity and access some great...

Maison Borella is a swish little boutique hotel in the (currently) hip Navigli district. It it very well-positioned. You're slightly tucked away from the busy main road (viale Gorizia) but still only a 3-min walk away. The tram stop is right there. If you prefer the underground, head down the other way for the Porta Genova station. It's a 5min...

Just one night there...not enough to enjoy it. Our room was in the first floor with view to the canal.. It was November and the road was very quiet but in any case was nice to look outside. I would like to say that the highlight of this hotel is the staff...extremely smily and helpful. Thanks a lot guys for...

I do travel often to Milan & have been forever looking for a nice hotel with charm and nice service. I have been more than pleased to discover this little gem in the center of the city. I looks like a very nice "maison bourgeoise". Just push the front door and enjoy the ultra nice & welcoming staff. They will...

We loved the location, specially at night, the ambiance of the hotel, the ecclectic decor, NICE! We had two rooms. Mine was nicer but NO cooling. My friends' was smaller, but reception gave them control of temperature. I was moved to an adjacent room with control of thermostat but the room smelled like a pizzeria over, not controllable. They provided...

I stayed one night on my last night in Italy before going home. Earlier in the week I'd stayed in another neighborhood in Milan but wanted to experience the Navigli area and found this hotel. It's right on the large canal, I had a canal view room with a small terrace which I was concerned might be noisy but the...

We have just returned from a four night stay here, the hotel is superb. The staff are really pleasant and helpful. The rooms are very clean, as you would expect. The position of the hotel is enviable, as it is right on the canal. The food in the restaurant is superb, and not to be missed. Milan of course is...

We pair were away for a girly weekend and chose this boutique hotel because of the great reviews, the look of the place and the location. The Navigli area is great - really lively at night with people out for the evening passegiata. Not rowdy though, plenty of people of all ages. We were really pleased when the reception staff...

Staying in Navigli

Neighbourhood Profile
Navigli
The Navigli is part of historic Milan. In the ancient days, the entire city was linked with canals, similar to Venice. Today, most of the canals are gone, but the Navigli remains a canal-based neighborhood. There are two major canals: Naviglio Pavese and Naviglio Grande. The Naviglio Grande's bridges greet visitors at dusk with an amazing view. The Navigli district specializes in clubs, cafes, and vintage shops. Lifestyle reigns supreme here. You can start the walk from the Colonne di San Lorenzo, an antique colonnade in front of the Basilica di San Lorenzo. During the daytime, this place acts as a meeting point for artists and students reading books or chatting with friends; the nights turn it into a stepping-stone for club hoppers. Science lovers will also relish the opportunity to visit the Science and Technology National Museum Leonardo Da Vinci, showcasing inventions of the Italian genius.
