We arrived at the Elena Hotel after a short journey from Milan Malpensa, the very convenient and cheap Alibus dropped us at the church door and the Hotel is 5 minutes flat walk from there. The Hotel stands on the corner of the Piazza, it is a fabulous location. It was a quiet time of year being nearly the end of season, but still a few other tourists to watch from our lovely balcony. I understand in high season it can be noisy and there are rooms that overlook the mountains at the back but our room 308 was perfect for us, it is a quadruple room and there were just the 2 of us. The bathroom is small but super clean and good shower with hot water. The beds are firm but that suited us very well. The only power point in which to charge our devices was 3 pin, a type which we did not bring an adapter for, but the hotel owner/manager concocted a number of adapters for us which worked beautifully. Breakfast was a continental buffet affair, it was delicious and so was the cappuccino! The hotel atmosphere is friendly and from what I can see benefits from returning customers, we will certainly be back, we loved it. Thank you. …
For Stresa this a cheap (82 euros for one night beginning October) solution for one or two nights stay. We stayed only one and although the feeling you get from the room and the hotel itself is that its very old and a little dirty (there were soaps left from the previous tenants in the bathroom), our sleep was good (normal matress and pillow) and breasfast and coffee was really very nice. In addition, staff and host were great and very helpful. I would recommend this if it is for a short stay.
On our return to Stresa. as we had previously visited the Bar at Hotel Elena, we decided to stop off for drinks on the terrace, which overlooks the square. We were instantly recognised by the owner & staff who made us very welcome. We made several visits to the Bar Elena, having drinks, coffees and snacks. There is an extensive menu, all which seemed very appetising, so on our second visit we decided on a Ham, Cheese & Tomato toastie and a Caprese salad, along with a small shandy & a glass of wine. The food was very good. When we had drinks only (after 11am) we were given a plate of small snacks (an aperitivo), all very good. The service was very good, as usual. The hotel/bar has a back door that leads to the car park behind, just off the square where the market is held. We class it as our local in Stresa. As we have never stayed there, we do not know what the accommodation etc. is like, so can't make any comment, but the service we get at the bar is excellent..…
Stayed at this hotel third time while having a writers week end. The location is excellent and rooms are clean and basic. Is you are not spending your time inside, this hotel offers the best value for your stay. The staff is very friendly and you really feel like coming home.
Stopped one evening for a drink before going out to eat. Had a lovely Aperol spritz and crisps here. Lovely position in the square. Very friendly place and looked a pleasant quaint hotel. Quick service and well priced drinks.
