I suppose this review should take the form of an apology. We are sorry we mentioned our fridge was not working. We are sorry we mentioned our air conditioning was not working. We are sorry we mentioned our hair drier was faulty. We are sorry we mentioned our bathroom ventilation was not working. We are sorry we complained our towels had not been changed in four days. We are so sorry you were upset and said we complain too much. After all you pointed out you are only a four star hotel and simply not up to our standards. It won’t happen again.
Location is excellent, and the room very clean. Those are the two good things about this hotel. My expectations may have been too high, as I was overall disappointed. We had a double with lake view on the second floor. The room and balcony quite small, and the TV was tiny. WiFi did not work for the two nights we stayed, and the AC was quite loud, although if you put it on the lowest setting it was bearable. Bathroom and shower good, but again, quite a tight fit. Balcony, small, but with a great view. Only problem is that it was not possible to sit on the balcony in the evening. The hotel is light up in the evenings with industrial style flood lights, and if you are on a lower floor then it is like a great ball of light shining in your eyes. We actually sat on the balcony, with a glass of wine, but had to turn our backs to the lake, because the light would blind us. Service was acceptable, but not great. Breakfast OK. Would I stay again? No.…
Being greeted by Adi the Concierge, who took our cases, helped park our car for us, checked us in to our room personally, with a smile and genuine warmth was the start of 3 delightful days in this lovely hotel. Fresh flowers adorn every corner, spotless rooms, lovely breakfast and very friendly waiters, professional and knowledgeable receptionists, perfect location, every need was met. If returning, I would definitely stay again, and the sea view upgrade was worth every penny. Thanks to all, especially, Carlo and Adi.
I really didn’t know what to expect nor have any preconceived ideas about the Astoria Hotel. Well, upon my arrival I was quickly greeted by the very friendly staff — Mark! The porter was especially friendly and went out of his way to help out and show my room. I had arrived early in the day. Most hotels shoo you away until 3PM. Not here. They offered to let me have a coffee and breakfast, plus took me to my room. Very nice! The room was very clean (very important to me!). My rest was good..although my taste is for a bit softer bed..no worries, the environs let me rest soundly. I enjoyed the breakfast fare and hot coffee — Thank you! The floor staff provided some laundry and pressing services for me, again by the porter and very nice staff on the 2nd floor — Thank you! My only regret, was that I had to leave.. Thank you, Astoria Hotel!…
It was a pleasure for us to stay in 'Astoria' hotel for the 2-nd time. The corner room on the 4-th floor with lake view and spacy balcony provided us with lovely feeling of immersion into the local nature and relaxation. The breakfast and dinner was also great, tasty with good selection of different food. Our special thanks to hotel management who did their best to make us comfortable, provide with the best room choice and price match. We definitely come back to 'Astoria' when have a chance to visit Stresa next time.
