We stayed in Dora room The hotel was hard to find You have to check in at a different / main hotel and then walk... which is fine but would have been nice to know in advance instead of driving around for 20 min Room and place is very very dated with numerous broken / not working items (shower head, furniture, etc) Breakfast is ok at best but allowed to see the audience... not impressed
Service friendly and helpful, electronics state-of-the-art (same card key for property gate, elevator and room), WiFi good. The only furniture was a wardrobe, a bed and a TV set, opening suitcases to unpack could only be done on the bed or on the floor. No desk, no comfortable chairs, no reading lamp, no nightstands or bedlamps. Curtains did not close completely. The shower door scrapes on the tile floor and our shower fixtures were ambitious but unpractical. The kitchenette was satisfactory. We walked here from the train station but took a cab back (for 9 Francs) because of the cobblestone sidewalks
We stayed in "Dora". This was a great choice for a family of four. It was a spacious home away-from-home. Yes, its near the train but that never bothered us; we rarely noticed and it never woke us up. And yes, its catty-corner from the main hotel, not in it, but that's how you get quiet, space, charm and privacy. We had a full king bedroom with a door for privacy (for the adults or early-to-bed folks), and a sofa bed in an alcove in the main area (for the kids or night owls). (So its great for a family but not two couples.) A kitchenette (stove, and fridge but no oven or microwave), a spacious bathroom, two tvs and our own courtyard -- all at an affordable rate. That the breakfast lacked variety was my only complaint but I would still stay there again. Stresa by the way is very safe, friendly and accessible. We could walk to grocery store and even laundry, plus all of the adorable shops and cafes you'd expect. All in all, if you want a full service hotel with room service and lots of personal attention, its not for you. If you're independent and want space and like the idea of having a few groceries and a kitchenette, this is for you.…
Stayed from 9/6/14-9/13/14. Accommodations for 2 in apt. Michela were perfect for a couple. Private rooftop terrace was perfect for enjoying a glass of wine after a day out and about. Perfect location to reach ferry service. Found 2 perfect places for dining; Taverna del Pappagallo and Al Buscion Wine Bar. Don't hesitate to stay here!
We were fortunate enough to be able to visit the lovely town of Stresa and we stayed at Villa Maurice. Check in is at Hotel Meeting which is down the block and there is private parking (for a fee) if you ask (this was a saving grace). The villa itself is huge - it's a mini apartment with a living room with fold out couch, kitchen and dining table and an adjoining bedroom with a double bed plus a spacious bathroom. The apartment is perfect for a family or a couple but I would not recommend it for 2 couples as there is no door from one sleeping space to the other and you have to pass the bedroom to get to the bathroom. The room key allows you access to gates, operates the elevator, unlocks the room and is also needed to turn on/keep on the lights! Air conditioning worked very well and kept the room quite cool, which is a welcome relief when you have a 90 degree day! The front desk staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. Breakfast (which is included) is very good with a nice selection of breads, meat, cheese, hard boiled eggs and pastries and a delicious cappuccino. There is also free internet access which is a plus. The location is perfect - walking distance to the water and the town with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. The train does pass by and you do hear it but it's not that bad - especially when the windows are closed and the A/c is on. Overall, for the price we paid, we were very happy with our choice and felt that it was a great value especially considering the size of the room and the location.…
