Directly situated on Lake Maggiore this hotel drips of elegance. Inside statues and paintings are everywhere making you feel as though you walked into a museum. The rooms are decorated in elegant old world style. By the luck of the draw we were in the corner room on the fifth floor with island views from all windows. The hotel is...

Wowed from the entrance and onward. Beautiful hotel, take time to savor the old world charm and decorative detail. Very friendly and helpful service from front desk. Beautiful room, elegant furnishings throughout the hotel. Large and lovely bathrooms. Views across the lake and to the islands and mountains are stunning. This is where you want to stay in Stresa!!! it is the most magnificent of hotels, like an art gallery and the most opulent stately home combined, almost more staff than guests!it is very pricy compared to large selection of restaurants that are only a few minutes away.We were there during Avery wet weekend in October but the famous gardens where still stunning. But beware the island garden/palaces closed for the winter...

We got beautiful sweet with all the nice amenities of a Grand Hotel including balcony overlooking promenade and the lake. Lovely breakfast. Great outdoor pool we got to use(beginning of June). Nice spa with small indoor pool and sauna. Overall nice experience. Perhaps slightly overpriced considering off season rate. Can't justify paying more in July/August.

On a long row of beautiful hotels which are classic or designed to appear so, this hotel is the most scenic and perhaps largest on Lake Maggiore in Stresa. The furnishings are lovely and the setting is serene, but the staff was occasionally to often contrary for lack of perhaps an exact word. The concierge, for example, handed our key...

The hotel is very well located right in front of the lake. Its seems like its an old hotel but has been renewed. The conferences rooms are good, breakfast room is very nice with a great view and breaksfat was very good. My room was kind of old, at the penthouse but with only two small windows. This bugged me...

Superb pricey hotel. I'm always happy to pay for quality. With the amount paid by clients I would expect better than a buffet breakfast or at least an egg chef standing by. Its the opposite, no chef, pretty average buffet, and they charged me an extra €9 for a couple of fried eggs!! Could and should do better!

I thank MAG900 for his review and for his patronage. I am sorry to learn that the Grand hotel des Iles Borromées has not been up to the expectation. Specifically because of the price of the fried eggs. Considering that it took him more than a year to “digest” those eggs and write his review, I am sure that to...

Beautifully appointed grand hotel from the second half of the 19th century. Has a nice spa with sauna, Turkish bath and inside swimming pool. Very nice rooms, poorly isolated from the neighboring ones. Disappointingly slow free wi-fi, consistently metered under 0.5 Mbps in the room. No wifi in the restaurant/breakfast room. We were disappointed to find our luggage still at...

A very grand hotel. We were stunned on arrival as we dared to pull our rental car into the ornate gates. Service very high quality and great French cuisine. The grounds are nice. The atmosphere is grand but relaxed. There is art everywhere! It's an easy place to be and feel special. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The concierge was...

My husband and I stayed here during a Backroads walking/hiking tour of the Italian Lakes. We were celebrating our 30 Anniversary and my 60th Birthday. The whole trip was magical, but this hotel was one of the absolute highlights. It is truly a Grand old hotel, but beautifully updated for modern comfort. Make sure you get a room that faces...
