South facing- that's the key. An amazing place. We were actually staying on the Island for a week at a lovely residence but decided to have a night here too. We had already eaten here one night. The staff are extremely professional. The somewhat simple but airy Lakeside room opened onto a lovely wide terrace, where you could soak up the sun whilst enjoying the view- perfect for relaxation & honeymoon. The breakfast is perhaps the best in Italy! My only issue was that it seemed that they locked up the Hotel at night & disappeared. When I went down to ask for a drink I was summarily dismissed & it seemed as if the manager didn't want to miss the boat back home! The bathroom also has a view of the Lake but is in desperate need for some Italian style & flair.
This is one of the best settings I have ever eaten in, with views over the lake towards Isola Bella. It is just perfection. And were were lucky enough to be given a lakeside table (worth requesting if you are booking in advance.) The service was a bit cloying and trying too hard. the food itself was really mixed. My lamb was good but too oily while my wife's tuna was very good. But my rabbit pasta was the blandest dish I have had this year. The restaurant is on Pescatori Island. Its iconic. You can arrange to be picked up from the mainland if you are not staying at the hotel. However, despite COVID 19, the boat driver had his mask off on the way back and was shaking hands with most of the passengers as they disembarked. I emailed the restaurant /hotel to warn them the next morning - five days later, their silence is deafening.…
Relaxing lunch with a wonderful view! Perfect spot to admire the landscape right in front of Isola Bella! The service is a little bit slow during the weekend because of the high number of guests. Take your time and book in advance!
Booking dinner is essential as they have to send a private boat to get you from the mainland to the Isola Pescatori. You have to fit in with their boat schedule..(19-30 from the landing stage near the donkey statue in Stresa. There we four of us so we shared 2 fish anti pasti starters followed by small portion of fresh porcini mushroom spaghetti then steaks for the men and fish for the ladies. washed down with excellent local white wine and well balanced Amorone . Pudding were pure delight , we all had a different one but shared. The teramsu in a chocolate basket won. It was September and as the evening got late they toughfully provided blankets..mainly for the ladies as us men had our 16% Amorone to keep us warm. Great night out, good food, good company very Italian atmosphere. Highly recommended Its also good for lunch again if you want a good table then book especially on Sundays when many guest arrive by private yatch. ...…
Taken across by the restaurant boat and given a very good table. Prosecco to start with very good service. Pleasant amuse bouche and then commenced with tatare pomodoro which was tomatoe with crab and avocado purée. On to sea bass with anchovy sauce which was very tender. Pudding was good with three types of Italian gelato for me. Excellent evening.
