Nice spacious room with a balcony facing the main road. Nice breakfast with juice, yoghurt, coffe and bread. The place is located both close to the old city and the shopping road. The host and his partner were very helpful. Highly recomended!

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at this apartment, not really a B&B.. The hosts were very nice and helpful. They did provide breakfast foods to be eaten in your leisure in your own kitchen. Location was great, except for the bars outside. The old, non-sealing windows do not keep the late night partying out of your room.

We had a spare night on the way up to the lakes, so decided to bypass Milan and spend the night in Bergamo. We chose B&B Liberty after checking Tripadvisor, and it was a memorable experience for, all the right reasons.

Cesare, the host, is a gem. We are normally wary of ‘character’ hosts, but Cesare is charm personified: helpful, intuitive to the needs of his guests, and full of bright energy. Talking to him helped to flesh out our tourist-eye view of Bergamo, with living anecdotes and a real sense of what it is to be young and aware in a rich, conservative North-Italian town.

The apartment was a treat. Bright and airy, high ceilinged and belle-epoque in architecture and feel, with huge windows looking out towards the Upper Town. Tastefully decorated, with a big, comfortable bed, small, but thoughtfully put together bathroom (with a wonderful power-shower). There was also milk, cereal and other condiments provided for free, and the kitchen had a homely feel.
We were out and it was hot, so we called Cesare to request a fan for the bedroom. When we came back ,we found apartment peopled with fans of all shape and description, including two big, new fans pointing at the bed – very funny and very sweet!

The location is also perfect – in the more livable lower town, less than five minutes walking from the stately city centre, with it’s fascinating mix of Fascist era monoliths and Baroque churches – and also right next to the charming old funicular to the Upper Town.
By far the best place we have yet stayed on our trip, we look forward to the next visit!

Liberty B&B is situated in the perfect location to explore Bergamo, a lovely Italian city with the historic Citta Alta, vibrant lower city and lovely walks available at your doorstep. We were in the 2 bedroom apartment, and Cesare was the perfect host, providing us with wonderful sightseeing information and restaurant recommendations. Do not expect luxury, but instead, and in my opinion the true travel experience, expect to feel as if you lived in a nice historic, Italian flat, and met a wonderful new friend on your arrival. What could be better?

Our room was clear. Hostess was friendly. When we arrived, She gave us information about the city. The bus stop to the airport is just outside the door. You are able to go both at old and new city on foot.

We have stayed only for a night (8 people in 3 rooms) and everything was excellent.

The rooms were very clean and tidy with beautiful decoration. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The property is very near to the city centre and to the funicular to the old city. Even breakfast was better than most hotels.

Absolute no fault. Definitely recommended if you are visiting Bergamo.

Stayed here on a brief visit to Bergamo on our way to holidaying at Lake Como
Really good base for sightseeing in Bergamo only a short walk to the Funicular to take you to the old city and also a short walk to the shopping or train and bus station. Egle and Cesare were lovely helpful people. The apartment was clean and spacious with lovely bathroom and kitchen facilities and the breakfast that was supplied was good and well thought out and all that you need.

Stayed five nights in june 2014, we really enjoyed the stay. Liberty B&B is located right in the middle of everything, yet it is quiet and the (small) private balcony was perfect for breakfast. The room is clean, breakfast is nice and served on a tray. And Cesare gave us a few tips on what to see and where to eat. Grazie mille, Cesare!

Bergamo Alta rises above us in the winter chill. There is some mist but the sky is mainly clear. The bells toll on the hour. Nuns walk out in pairs and the locals parade their canine friends. I use my cosy room as a rest haven after a strenuous walk up to Bergamo Alta, a funiculare ride to the higher San Vigilio, a gourmet lunch there at Il Baretto and then the long amble down to Bergamo Bassa.

Cesare is a generous host. He welcomes warmly and shares his intimate knowledge of his home city. His property could not be better located. It is but a short stroll to the central square for an afternoon glass of wine, some nibbles and the joy of watching the passagiata. The funiculare to Alta is five minutes in the opposite direction and the walk to the modern gallery of the Accademia Carrara, while longer, enables you to take in narrow cobblestoned streets of grand Venetian palazzos. Liberty B&B is nestled amongst some of the most distinguished residences in Bergamo. My room is simply furnished but it has a character that has clearly developed over many generations. The doors to the bathroom have stood the test of time. The balcony affords pleasant views of surrounding properties and beyond. The building has witnessed much in the parade of humanity that we call history. Cesare makes some suggestions for dinner - he senses I appreciate good food and wine. I am not disappointed!

There could not be a better place to stay in Bergamo: generous hospitality from an intelligent and informative host in a location that is the best.

Wow Bill, lovely description of the town! Thank you so much, I am delighted you appreciated so many detailed aspects of Bergamo and Liberty. Every day we try our best to bring quality to our guests, and its a great reward to see appreciation for our efforts. Really looking forward to see you back, maybe for the Accademia Carrara re-opening!
