The Gombit is a stylish hotel with large well appointed rooms that blend the historic feel of the 13th Century building with contemporary design and modern art. Its location - just off the city square - is very convenient for sight seeing. There are many restaurants close by. If you arrive by train, the taxi fare from the station is...

It is very difficult to rate any property on a scale from 1 to 5 so here it goes: Lobby 9 Staff 10 Room 9.6 --Size 10 --Cleanness 10 --Bed 9.5 --Bathroom 9.5 --Room Cleaning 10 --Bar 9 (offers red/white wine, water, juices, nuts, etc) Breakfast 10 Internet 10 free wifi, good speed Overall, without weighting the categories, as to...

Really interesting hotel, very unusual and cool with great features. Room was big and very comfortable, bathroom (esp shower) was wonderful. Brilliant location. You could open the large windows and listen to the medieval bells ringing all day. Wonderful. Only downside (and it may seem a little fussy) but lots of hotels are adopting the feather pillow which is more...

The location is perfect - Bergamo Alta, and just 50 m from where you can park the car. Good restaurants nearby. Spacious room, with a very high ceiling, and a deal of personality - resulting from the combination of the old architecture with the modern design. The bathroom was comfortable and elegant as well. Well, not the cheapest perhaps, but...

We love Bergamo Alta & The Gombit is in a perfect location. Yes the hotel is expensive but i think it's worth it - our room was really spacious - beautifully designed - very comfortable & toasty warm & with two wonderful windows that let light in. & unlike our first visit this time the bathroom was also comfortable. &...

234 euros for an upgrade to a 304 euro room, sleeping on "ikea" pillows. Get real. A robbery. If i wanted to sleep on ikea stuff i'd stay at home for free or go to a 80 euro 2 star hotel. Can you believe that stuff? Nothing against ikea but design is something else. Get a life gombit hotel owners!

Cannot believe what i found in the closet, an ikea blanket in a 234 euro room, 300 us dollars for an ikea blanket. This kills everything else which might have been nice! Its the worst "design hotel killers" of all times, a made in bulgaria ikea blanket in a wannabe 4 star italian design hotel charging crazy rates. Never again...

This is a neat design hotel, housed in a restored old tower. Viewing from the outside, then stepping inside makes you wonder if you are actually stepping into the same structure. Really cool accents and design features (books hanging off walls, cutting edge chairs and furnishings in lobby, etc). Nicely designed + well appointed rooms, really cool bathroom (check out...

This is our 2nd stay in Gombit, the first was a couple of years ago when the hotel had just opened. We booked two classic rooms and both were lovely, very well appointed with v nice bed, good linens, robes, mini bar free Wi-Fi and satellite TV. The hotel is a renovation of an old tower, right in the centre...

This Hotel is in just the best situation in Bergamo Alta. It is minutes away from the funiculare, and therefore all public transport, and in the other direction, minutes away from the Piazza Vecchia. The rooms were immaculate, spacious, for 3 of us, and the shower in a well fitted-out bathroom, was just lovely and warm, with a huge shower-head....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Thought of for those who seek a hotel as an artistic fascination, GombitHotel is the first design hotel within the ancient walls that surround Bergamo Alta, the ancient borough of Bergamo. Next to the Torre del Gombito, a thirteenth century stone tower, between being a collection of art and a workshop, the hotel is a great experimental laboratory and gallery where young artists work together to keep the interiors alive. A place for dreamers, created by dreamers. ... more   less
