Last July we visited this hotel for the 5th time in the last couple of years and it was as always superb. The whole staff is very friendly and do the utmost to make your stay very comfortable. Breakfast is extensive and of high quality. The room we had this time was really nice with agreat view and spotless ( they have great chambermaids) with enough space for 2 adults and a child of 13. Especially my daughter was very happy with her own bathroom. The stylish, antique furniture and beautiful, old paintings on all walls in this hotel and in the rooms complete the picture. The beachclub is lovely with a great view of the Portofino coast, 2 infinitypools and of course the terrasses with sunbeds which lead you to the sea. Every visit we pay at this hotel feels like coming home. Many thanks to all the staff to make our stay again a memorable one and till next time.…
My stay at this hotel was beyond great! I had an amazing time and everything was on point. Good customer services - staff were very friendly and helpful at all times, specially the staff by the swimming pool and the beach. The breakfast was just okay, not a lot of choices but a good breakfast. The facility were also very good and The infinity Pool was just Wow!! highly recommended this hotel to any. Solo, couple or family! Will definitely return.
We were a group of 5 couples and booked 5 rooms. My wife and I had booked a junior suite at great expense and found the room to just have a sofa which they said was the junior suite. Service was terrible with staff not returning calls therefore we had to call 4 times to get a response. This happened on 2 occasions. Would never recomend this hotel to anyone. The breakfast staff and reception staff were also very rude with the ladies who just asked for a bottle of water.
Just spent two nights at the beautiful resort. Upon checking in the team and manager we’re extraordinarily helpful. Totally would recommend this to be the place stay. Best pool and ocean access, only a short taxi drive to everywhere. Sunset cruise was fabulous.
Old interior, no pool or beach service! Feels like the havent renovated since the 60ths. Had high hopes, this is total crap and should not have more tha 3 stars! Dont even want to try eating here will taxi a taxi to some good restaurant! Stay away!
If you require English speaking news channels and tv that the most simple hotel chains provide, you will not get it at this hotel. Also the Wi-Fi is very unreliable. The staff really tried to help, but there is something fundamentally wrong with the cable and internet service. Otherwise, it is a lovely, elegant hotel with very friendly and helpful staff.
Having just stayed at Villa D’Este at Lake Como for five nights and being unable to secure a late reservation for Splendido Portofino on our way through to the South of France we thought we would give the 5 Star rated Excelsior Palace a try for two nights due to its relatively promising reviews. Before even arriving we started to get the feeling this was a mistake, having called to speak to the concierge only to be told there was none on duty the day before our arrival and no further help being offered From the moment of arrival things went down hill; clumsy check in procedures, no explanation to the hotel amenity or local area, no service in the bar area (although the Bellini was actually rather good when it did arrive), common areas in need of refurbishment and an underwhelming beach club despite the beautiful location and views. Trying to get a hold of the front desk can be infuriating with calls often going unanswered and then being told to call other areas of the hotel instead of being put through or the message being passed on. Multiple request for ice to our room went without said ice being delivered and a request for an iron which in any other 5 start hotel is a basic room amenity was met with a rather perplexing explanation that they could not provide one for ‘security reasons’ no further explanation to what this security issue could was able to be provided other then they have a paid service available which would not allow for pressing before dinner on arrival in any case. The head concierge Angelo was the exception to our stay, a delightful man who was clearly doing his best to carry an otherwise disappointing hotel. We will absolutely not be back and would suggest this hotel would be a 3.5 star hotel at best other than some of the views.…
Staying here was like a dream. A week later I still have to pinch myself! The location is as represented on their cover photo overview. Picturesque does not do it justice! We were booked into a balcony where we could sit on the terrace. I think we got upgraded to something that we could only call an apartment! It was the view of the Mediterranean and to the right Santa Margarita and Portofino. We did peek into a smaller room that had a view of the other side which was the marina and the town. I would have been happy with either of you because the marina view also gives you water as well. Service was excellent at the included breakfast as well as at dinner. The front desk was so helpful at every twist intern even helping to call a taxi for us when we were off property. Lastly, I did leave some thing at the hotel and they were able to find it and took care to ship it to my next hotel destination. Thank you: Angelo Cipollina, Chef Concierge! Walking to town was a slight decline downhill 10 minutes and walking back a slight incline. Totally doable. The pool was an amazing multi level area that blended a traditional pool with infinity view and then down to the lapping waves on the rocks where you could easily jump in and a ladder out. Eden Roc lounge and lunch also terrific! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!…
After our recent stay, I would like to say- that the hotel and staff exceeded our expectations,in everyway. The location, cleaniness of the rooms and our actual room- over looking the bay was exceptional, every department was efficient and friendly, excellent breakfast menu and all done to a high standard. We would totally recommend this hotel and will be back.
The hotel is lovely. Great breakfast. Options available for vegetarians. Beautiful location. Easy to walk to Rapallo or Santa Margherita. The only downfall is the Internet connection. It is terrible. Was impossible to get work done
