Without a doubt, it is the smiling and pleasant staff at The Melia Hotel who make it an enjoyable place to stay. The warm welcome, and friendliness and helpfulness of every member of staff are the features which raise the rating of this hotel. There is nothing outstanding about the appearance or ambience of the hotel which is bland and...

We had a wonderfull stay in occasion of a special event. We got therefor for free an upgrade to two nicer rooms. On sunday we found a cooled bottle of champagne and fresh strawberries on a layer of chocolat to celebrate. Soooo nice and special!!! Our first time in Genova, this was an excellent choice. Modern, smart hotel situated away from the bustle of the (sometimes edgy) centre in a very nice residential area. About 15 minutes walk from the centre, maybe a bit longer down to the port, but nonetheless ideal for peace and quiet after the hectic bustle of the main sites, historic...

We were travelling with a group guided by a Collette tour manager. Our accommodations at this hotel were five star. We ate one meal in the hotel's restaurant. Service and the food were both excellent.

I often use the Melia chain and have stayed in several of their 5 star hotels .I have not given this hotel a maximum rating as in some areas, it fell short of 5 star standards. Location is very good with a 15 minute walk to the centre and restaurants within close walking distance. Hotel space felt a little cramped...

Glad we chose this hotel. Better than other Melia's we have stayed in. The free mobile phone that comes with the room is a good idea. Pool is small but OK for a quick dip and it has a steam room. The supreme room was very spacious. Very well insulated against noise. The breakfast was OK but could be much...

This is a very good hotel. The room was large, clean and well equipped, as was the bathroom. Service was generally friendly and excellent. Book direct through the hotel and receive a 15 Euro voucher for the bar, which buys you two beers (or one G&T). They will price match booking web sites so it's worth the effort. The location...

This is an ideal location from which to explore Genoa on foot: it is a short walk to the main sites of this compact city, which we fell in love with; we will definitely be back. The rooms are well-appointed, with all the amenities one would wish for, and we had an exceptionally good bathroom. The provision of an adapted...

Super central location away from the main roads meant we were near everything we needed. The hotel staff were lovely and happy to supply us with a map and point out all the recommendations. Three things that made this hotel worth extending our stay (twice!) for: 1) the breakfast buffet is AMAZING! Everything you could possibly want is there, its...

“We would have preferred a quieter room as we had requested when booking. Our room was at the front of the hotel on the first floor. The bar on the opposite side of the road was very noisy the first night and traffic noise was noticeable each night. There didn't seem to be effective noise-insulation. Perhaps rooms at the back of the hotel or on higher levels at the front suffer less from noise. The room was hot and stuffy and this, together with the noise from outside, made it difficult to sleep. The bed was comfortable enough but without the peace and tranquility of a cool room we could not take full advantage of this comfort. The swimming pool area provided a welcome opportunity to relax, but was too small for more than three people and inadequate for any worthwhile swimming.”

“602 was billed as a junior suite with balcony. It was a room rather than a suite but very comfortable. The balcony was huge - as big as the room with table and chairs and longers so a real bonus if the weather was hot. Only downside was a large gull which woke us at dawn every morning by attacking its reflection on the outside of the glass door leading to the balcony. We suggested to the hotel that they should affix a non-reflective material to the lowest 30cms of the glass to try to deter it- from the evidence of droppings on the balcony floor just outside the window, it is a regular visitor.”
