This is a nice place to stay (that isn't too expensive) in Vernazza. But don't expect the amenities that a hotel would provide (porters, room service, glitz and glam, etc)--you simply won't find that in Vernazza. We had a very small, but clean and comfortable double-bed room that required many, many, many steps through a couple alleyways to get to....

This hotel had some definite pros and cons, but overall was a good value for the price of the room. The pros - a nice view from our room, a private bathroom (you need to request it, it's slightly more expensive) and most of all, a room that was not right on the main harbor square which made it substantially...

We stayed here in May 2008. We had a double room, with a private bath and a view. Our room was actually not up many stairs and I thought it was a guest room for the owners but maybe not. The room also had an oven, sink and small kitchen area which we did not use. The room was clean...

We stayed for one night in April 2007. Our triple was absolutely tiny. But who cares!?!? You can easily forgive the four inch clearance between the beds (beds with with clean sheets I might add) when you go up to the terrace. Amazing! We bought a bottle of local white wine (Sciacchetrà), a container of pesto from the deli and...

My husband & I stayed here in April 2008. 115 steps to our room with a great view. Our room had a private bath across from the hall from the room... not the best idea. The bathroom was spotless but the bedroom was very dusty and the floors looked they hadn't been swept in a month. The staff were cold...

Sure, you'll climb a lot of steps to get to your room, but if you're afraid of climbing stairs then Cinque Terre isn't for you. (Though that would be a shame because it's one of the most stunningly beautiful places on earth!) We booked a room with a private bathroom and it was great. One night at sunset, we got...

Vernazza is a phenomenal place to go, even in October which is right at the end of "tourist season." The group of buildings which make up this hotel are located basically right on the harbor, but there are stairs to climb. If you can't handle this, then don't stay in Vernazza (probably also applies to a lot of other hotels...

It's not easy to find places in these little towns of Cinque Terra. However, this place was decent. I have no complaints. Lots of stairs, but we are young and were backpacking. It was great to visit these little towns and ride the trains around. Overall, a good value for the surrounding area.

For those of you who enjoy travel and respect that the cultural differences between Italy and their country -- You'll love Vernazza and Gianni Franzi. The rooms are authentic -- uniquely appointed, small, clean, and up many stairs. The views vary, but the location is tough to beat. If you have difficulty with stairs or travel heavy, forget this location....

I saw all the comments on the stairs, so I was warned! Although the accomodations were fine, the climb was not worth it. There are better rooms for the price that don't have that climb. That said, the room was clean and the bathroom good, although I did ask for a twin and was given a double room.
