the room is too small and it doesn't have any sunlight. the bathroom would be better. the steps in the building are seriously steep. finally, it doesn't worth the price. It would be a little cheaper.
Be very careful to book this place and make sure they confirm!
Good:
- room was lovely and quite spacious
- wifi was excellent
- hotel seemed to be in a good location and was easy to find and not far from the train station.
- The guy that managed the hotel was helpful with helping us figure out what to do.
- Upstairs there was a nice terrace which would be lovely in summer and they had facilities up there to make your own tea and coffee
Bad:
- the heater in the room didn't work
- there was no elevator and the stairs are extremely steep and narrow which made carrying the suitcases up and down difficult
- Parking: we had emailed the hotel 4 times and our travel agent tried twice to confirm parking (which was advertised on booking.com and we had requested) we heard nothing back and had to park at la spezia station and get the train in (we assumed we hadn't heard back because they didn't speak English however they seemed very well versed when we arrived so we assume we were ignored on purpose). Our car was then broken into while at the station and had around 25 euros taken so others considering this option be sure to remove everything from your car including change.
- when we arrived no one was at the hotel and there was a sign with numbers to call, it was lucky my phone was able to make international calls otherwise I'm not sure what we would've done.
- Breakfast was at a separate location when we arrived the lady there didn't greet us and instead watched us walk around the shop uncertain for five minutes. She wasn't very friendly when seating us or taking our order which made breakfast uncomfortable and we didn't go back the next day. The food on offer wasn't great, just one pastry and one drink.
The rooms have windows which seal and block any noise from the street. Good air conditioner, shower, plenty of hot water, a great hair dryer and.excellent wi-fi. My only suggestion to improve an otherwise great accommodation would be a place inside the shower to hold the soap and shampoo and a full size mirror.
Breakfast and check in is at their wine shop. The breakfast chocolate croissants were to die for! Wonderful cheese, ham, yogurt and cappuccino.
Highly recommended!!!
The room is beautifully decorated, very comfortable and has a great bathroom as well.
Upstairs is tea (an electric kettle & Twinings for us colonials!) coffee, biscotti and two super cute balconies that look out over Monterosso. Great for a wine and a wind down after walking the trails of Cinque Terre.
Mario is an amazing host - yes there are steep stairs to the room (as other reviewers have mentioned) however he carried all our very heavy suitcases up for us so it wasn’t a problem at all. He was also super accommodating when our train didn’t leave till after normal check out as well.
Breakfast is served 50m away at his resturant and is a delicious typical Italian spread - boiled eggs, ham, cheese, bread, danishes, fruit and cereals. The espresso there is one of the best we’ve had in Italy over multiple trips.
I can not recommend Zia Letizia highly enough, we will definitely be rebooking when we return to this beautiful part of the world.
"This bed and breakfast has two rooms (I believe) which both are in more or less a silent area. We could slip without any problems really."Read full review
"Rooms are on the top floor with a lot of stairs. The terrace on the roof is very nice and free drinks are available."Read full review
