Very friendly hosts in a gorgeous house on edge of city. Very good location for easy walking into town. Generous breakfast. Large room with ensuite shower. Good guidance on local sights and restaurants. All as advertised and plenty of parking.
Steelers76 posted a great write up of Villa Fausta but posted poor scores. My wife and I discovered our rating error just this morning. Our intention was to rate Villa Fausta with the highest marks. Nicolletta and Serge were absolutely marvelous hosts and operate a 'first class' B&B. We inadvertently marked left circles instead of right. Our sincere hope is that everyone who views Villa Fausta will see this correction. The location is perfectly set in a residential area of the city in walking distance of downtown. Inside the Villa Fausta enclave the setting is serene where the beautiful villa is set within a quiet neighborhood. Our room was outstanding from our perspective with plenty of space to store our luggage and still comfortably move about. Outside the table and chairs provided a perfect place for our "happy hour' under a beautiful tree. The bathroom was very comfortably arranged and the bed (two twins combined for a king) allowed for a very peaceful evening of rest. We highly recommend this Villa to anyone traveling to Trieste that would like to experience the city as a guest and not a tourist. The proprietors are locals who grew up in this lovely city and are very willing to share all they know. Try it and you won't be disappointed.…
I was in Triest for a weekend with my boyfriend - we chose the Villa Fausta because we really liked the look it had on their website. We wanted to have a chilled, romantic weekend so it seemed the right accomodation. We really liked the room - we had the one on the ground floor. What we didn't like was the bed - it was 2 beds next to each other with 2 seperate mattresses and a big gap in between. Well - not really romantic. During the first night it was also very cold in the room, they obviously did not - as they told us before - turn on the heating. They did the next day, after I told them that I didn't sleep well because it was so cold in the room. What I also want to mention is that the floor in the bathroom was really cold - I was glad I brought my flip flops so I didn't have to shower barefoot. There is a small electric heater in the bathroom but it doesn't help against the cold floor. The breakfast was ok, but for 80 Euros per night for the room (not per person) I would have expected a little more. It was this pre-sliced wishy washy bread, well - they have so much nicer bread in Italy! They also had a knew dog which doesn't like men - he didn't do anything but bark but it's not that relaxing when you try to enjoy the nice garden when a dog is barking at you all the time. Apart from that it was very nice - the owners are very nice and friendly. They also kept an eye on their dog and called him away from us when he didn't stop barking. I just think that for this price you can get a better room.…
We were very well looked after at Villa Fausta. The Tracanelli's are very knowledgeable about Trieste and are passionate communicators of its history and its quirkiness. The villa is about 20 minutes walk from the train station, in a residential quarter. We found it remarkably quiet, even with the window open at night (there is no air conditioning). There is a bus stop right outside the gate. We found that buying a day ticket ("un biglietto giornaliero") for about Eur.4.50 was the perfect solution. It took us into town, right along to Miramare Castle and back, and was perfect for coming home in the evening after eating out. The one thing that doesn't seem to exist is a route map for the buses - even the main Tourism Office admitted that there isn't one, so you have to do some homework. But it wasn't hard. If you come to Trieste by car, the opportunity to leave your car safely - and in shade - whilst you explore the city is invaluable. A very personal, welcoming and helpful family - we learned much more than if we had been in a hotel. The room was quite large, clean and very comfortable with a good bathroom and plenty of interesting things to read about Trieste. Highly recommended.…
Nicoletta and Sergio were excellent host, the rooms were large and the house was set in a very peaceful and large gardens.Excellent private parking and very good location to walk to see the sites of Trieste city tourist sites.
We never been stayded B&B like this, place is marvellous! Sergio and Nicoletta are really frendly hosts that make your staying so easy. Every morning you get ideas from Nicoletta what she recommed to do. Thank you once again your hospitality.
We travelled to Trieste for a week of relaxation after an intensive contemporary art marathon at the Biennale in Venice. Villa Fausta has been the perfect choice for that. It provides perfect shelter from the noise of the town and the heat wave in early July. The villa is a splendid jewel in a rather modest fitting. A nice, big room with a wonderful bathroom in a very quiet surrounding. Easily reachable by foot from the railway station and the city centre but also conveniently connected by bus to both the centre and the interesting places around Trieste for those, like us, not travelling by car. Nicoletta and Sergio were perfect hosts, discreet and warm-hearted, and open to help us with tips to spend our time in this part of Italy. We can wholeheartedly recommend staying at the Villa. My husband and I stayed at Villa Fausta just before Easter this year (2013), and can thoroughly recommend Villa Fausta. Although the weather was extreme (wind, snow and ice storms) the room was always warm and snug and the water hot, and always extremely comfortable and clean. Nicoletta and Sergio were the most welcoming hosts, with a delicious breakfast every morning and ideas for things to do during the day. Nicoletta lent us books about Trieste and James Joyce's stay there. We plan to go back, hopefully whent the weather is better, to walk in the hills and along the coast.
The traffic and very loud motor scooters were so obnoxious I could not sleep. Even though the house is surrounded by trees, it is very close to a busy road. If sound bothers you, I would not recommend staying here. We stayed on the third floor and taking luggage up the stairs was quite a challenge. No eating is allowed in the room. I do understand, but I always like to have a little something to munch on. We asked for a recommendation for a good restaurant and Nicolette said they were all good--not very helpful!!! If you want peace and quiet I would not recommend this B&B. The house was very clean, breakfast was good, coffee was wonderful.
This place would easily get 5 stars BUT for 2 complaints we had: We slept in the ground floor room, which has twin beds with wooden head & foot boards. We requested a double room, and perhaps the distinction is not made in Italy between "double" and "sleeps two", but when you're on a honeymoon to celebrate your first wedding anniversary, it's less than ideal. My husband is 6'2"/193cm and didn't get a good night's rest because the beds were quite short. He's well accustomed to short beds and is quite happy for his feet to stick off the end, but the footboard prevented this. The other complaint we had about the room itself is that for a "non-smoking" room, it smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke. This is quite a fundamental issue for many people, and although we tolerated it for the 2 nights we were there, we wouldn't have stayed longer. Other than those complaints, this was a wonderful place to base ourselves for our visit to Trieste. The hosts were very welcoming and Nicoletta gave us excellent recommendations for what to do and see for our short stay in Trieste, as well as a guidebook to borrow for which we were very grateful. We toured all over Trieste on foot for the better part of one day, and then drove up to Parco di Villa Revoltella which has stunning views over the city and sea at sunset and lovely gardens and a playground for children. Castello Miramare and the gardens are not to be missed either (sorry, if I reviewed each place we visited individually, I'd be on TripAdvisor all day!) Breakfast at Villa Fausta was basic but good and adequate fuel for a morning's activities. Other than the beds and smell, our room was spacious and quiet, very clean had a really nice bathroom and shower and wi-fi access. I'd happily recommend this to others as long as they are aware of the issues we had.…
