On a positive note: The location is good for a stopover: Quickly to reach from the highway and plenty of parking. Breakfast was ok. the breakfast people didn't speak English but they were helpful and friendly. The room was small and looked dated and dingy. I can't say that it was not clean, but it looked dirty, because everything was so old and worn. In desparate need of renovation. The bathroom was the tiniest bathroom I have ever seen. It felt like an airplane wash room. Definitely too small for a 3-bed room. There was obviously no sound proofing. We could hear pretty much everything from the hallway and the adjacent rooms. There seems to be an active party folk in the hotel on a Friday night, that made it hard to sleep. The absolute lowlight was the reception staff: Short, unfriendly, bordering rude. Maybe that was a language barrier, too. But I would expect the reception staff in a Northern Italian 4* Hotel (so close to the city of Parma) to speak at least decent English. Talking about stars...no idea where those came from. The level we experienced is way below 3*. Definitley the worst hotel out of 10, on our 17 day road trip through Italy. Luckily we only had to stay one night here and were gone in the morning.…
We stayed for 4 nights as my partners family live near the area so it was very convenient for us, It is also convenient as it is right off the A1 motorway, The receptionist when we arrived ( Rossella ) was very friendly as were others we saw during the stay. The room was kept clean and tidy although personally I found it too warm at night time. The breakfast was fine, a varied choice was offered Plenty of room to park the car, and there is a onsite restaurant plus a bar. It is nothing posh but a nice place to stay.
San Marco is on the outskirts of Parma town. It seems to be an old hotel and probably needs some sprucing up to do. Nevertheless, the place is clean, the room we had was spacious. Would have love the bathroom to be a bit bigger though. The staff was very friendly. They had a special Aperitif Evening going on in the evenings during the time of our visit with complimentary wine/cocktails and finger foods. The surrounding area is very picturesque and has a good restaurant & bar close by. The Breakfast buffet at the hotel was more than sufficient to line the system till lunch time.
Stayed outside of Parma for logistics reasons. This hotel was a good choice since it’s close to the highway (Autostrada). Large room, comfy beds, clean bathroom. Breakfast was varied. Needs some renovation but has a good quality price ratio.
There is supermarket and mini shopping mall nearby so it is extremely convenient. A decent pizzaria downstairs as well so in terms of location it is perfect. Elevators are abit dated and breakfast selection can be expanded and improved. Apart from that it was a comfortable stay especially if you are there for business
