Location: It is about a 20 minute walk and 5-10 minute taxi ride for center city. Taxi will be about $8. Nothing right next door for food, etc. Property: Newly renovated. Modern style. Has restaurant, bar, gym, roof terrace with jacuzzi. Room: We had a junior suite. Even though it is called a suite, it was one large room. Furniture is more form than function. The couch had half a back, the desk chair was molded plastic. The mattress was OK, soft on the edges, firm in the middle. The two pillow choice were both big and firm. Only English, including subtitle options, was news. Mini fridge, espresso maker and hot water maker are on a spacious desk top. The electric plug for the desk is six feet away from the chair. Staff: Professional, friendly and helpful. Some speak English better than others. Restaurant: Nice looking. Dinner does not begin until 7:30 PM. That is a little late for old Americans. The bar opens at 5 PM. We found out late in our stay that snack food like pizza is available most times. Breakfast: Excellent selection and good service. Gym: Well equipped with one of all standard equipment, including only one floor mat. Price: Varies by day of week. We paid from 420 Euro to 185 Euro.…
Large rooms, great amenities, very comfortable bed, friendly staff. Only downside a bit is location, a 15 min walk to town. There is a rooftop with a hot tub. There is a nice buffet breakfast at a good price. There is a bar and they give you a free welcome drink. There is a small gym, but clean. I would say, maybe better signage at the hotel. Sometimes it was hard to navigate how to leave with the multiple lifts!
I am always skeptical when a mid-priced hotel is ranked this highly (as of the day of writing, Aemilia is ranked as the best, #1 hotel in Bologna). After spending three nights there, I get it. The hotel is well-kept, clean and has all the amenities you could hope for (a modern TV, tea/coffee in the room - which I’ve learned is hardly a given in Italy, a rooftop lounge area with a hot tub, a gym and a nice restaurant). It’s not without fault - the practice of having a half-open shower, which, if it backs up even a little bit, floods the entire bathroom within minutes, should be outlawed by the Geneva Convention, the breakfast was a bit so-so (omelettes were particularly bad - bland and overcooked) and the WiFi never really worked. Let’s talk about that last bit for a second. As we were checking out, the front desk employee asked if everything went well. I casually mentioned the WiFi expecting nothing more than an acknowledgment. After all, we managed to make do with my phone’s data plan and it didn’t really impact us all THAT much. We walked away with a heartfelt apology, a business card to help with our next booking and a 50% (I initially thought I heard 15%, which would have been beyond sufficient) discount off our stay plus comped parking. My wife and I dutifully dropped our jaws and walked away humbled. Add to this the fact that every single request of ours had been attended to (speaking of that shower, when we did manage to flood the bathroom on our first evening, the front desk manager on duty came to deliver fresh towels and clean up the mess herself) and we were greeted very warmly upon check-in with suggestions where to eat and what to see, and you get the absolute best part about Aemilia - the awesome people. An unfortunately rare phenomenon these days and a reason to give five stars in spite of the (admittedly minor) issues we encountered.…
Located adjacent to the City center ( 5 minutes to walk to the inner circle), very good breakfast, really good roof top terrace with jacuzzi and sun beds. Excellent price-performance-relation. I can fully recommend this Hotel!
First class room and service by a very friendly staff. Also helpful is the option to park your car in an underground garage for a small fee. We have spend the night at the Aemilia Hotel for several years during our travels to other destinations but it is so nice to stay there and visit Bologna.
