Just off the Via Independenzia but very quiet, Metropolitan is ideally located for a city break in Bologna and exploring the surrounding area as it’s a short walk to the rail station. Comfortable, modern rooms and a great breakfast buffet.
I absolutely loved this hotel, very upscale, new, clean, everything we needed, great breakfast, and a lovely roof bar. Room was great, bed was comfortable, bathroom was good, shower a little small but worked great. Staff was great, very attentive, and so polite. I definitely would return next time in Bologna, which I hope is soon.
The shower was at least 20 years old with crusty filth on the sides and mould on the ceiling. The pillows were lumps of acrylic balls and the mattress was uneven and collapsing on the side. Staff at front desk refused to book a restaurant for us as they were too busy. No battery in the safe. This is a two star hotel. We paid €490 for our room which was robbery. They only thing going for it was the location. Who is allowing this dump to maintain four stars? What professional hotel organisation reviews these types of places? Do not go here.
Wonderful hotel for a short stay in Bologna. Anita was a superb Host, helping with restaurant suggestions, pointing towards local shopping areas and organising taxis. Breakfast was excellent and the rooftop bar was an excellent bonus. The Hotel is very well situated, within walking distance of the most interesting areas to explore Bologna central. Thoroughly recommend.
Stayed at Metropolitan for four nights on our way from Puglia to Venice and were quite pleased. Our standard room (albeit one of the nicer ones, according to the staff) was surprisingly commodious, with a comfortable bed and a well-appointed bathroom. The whole hotel has been renovated in the not too distant past, and has a clean European vibe. There is a comfortable rooftop bar with light food if you can't afce a full meal out in the evening. Excellent location in the old city, only a few min walk from the main basilica and major sights. The hotel is a good 15 - 20 min very slight uphill walk from the train station at a sedate pace if you are toting luggage, not a deal killer, but longer than they advertise (my experience is that all European hotels fudge a bit when discussing how far a walk they are from the train station). On the other hand, returning to the train station is a piece of cake since you are on a slight downhill almost all the way. Staff was very helpful in responding to requests for recommendations for food, places to see and even took the time to explain how to use the buses. Not much to dislike about this hotel - maybe a bit more consistency on restaurant recommendations, but that is a big ask - Bologna has 1000s of places to eat, most of them at least adequate.…
We visited Bologna for the first time as arrival point into Italy for a vacation by the Adriatic Sea. With only 2 nights and one complete day there, we wanted to stay in the city center. Finding the Metropolitan Hotel on-line was a bit of very good luck. The pics looked good and the rate fair for the season in prime location. And the rooftop lounge really sold us. We were very happy with our stay. The staff friendly and helpful. The location perfect. Rooms tastefully designed and appointed. AND THE ROOFTOP LOUNGE! We loved it and visited 3 times in 2 night stay. We will stay again at the Metropolitan if our travels take us to Bologna. We recommend highly!
Best location! Very decent hotel! The staff are so lovely and helpful and welcoming! Sara Is so helpful and assisting! I would definitely recommend this place! Breakfast is average but there are some great cafes around to compensate! Thanks for the great stay
We really appreciated the upgrade we were given and had the room with a small inner garden. It was a beautiful room and the hotel was absolutely wonderful. Great decor, location fantastic, rooftop wonderful and all staff very helpful. And great coffee maker in there room. If we come back to Bologna, we definitely come and stay here again. Great value for money!
We stayed here at the beginning of our trip and we’re very impressed with the stylish interiors, friendly and helpful staff, delightful breakfast and terrace off bedroom. On return to Bologna our flight was cancelled and we stayed one night in a hotel nearby which was nowhere near as enjoyable and so the following day we managed to move back to The Metropolitan. The hotel is well situated to easily walk to the station or to sightsee around Bologna. There are many restaurants and bars within an easy walking distance. We stayed in a double standard room 112 which had a terrace. This was lovely to sit out and relax in. It was very modern and minimalistic. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom had a good sized shower. I would be very happy to return and stay at this hotel
Gorgeous rooftop, elegantly designed rooms, and prefect location right in the center of everything. High recommend for exploring Bologna or simply for a relaxing place to cool out at night with a cold beverage and enjoy the cityscape.
