We stayed in a family room for three nights. The room was basic but clean. The staff are very friendly and breakfast while simple offered everything we wanted. There is no bar at the hotel but a lovely restaurant just on the corner of the street, worth a visit. You can walk to the main square within 10 minutes and... More

We stayed at hotel for 3 nights. Hotel's staff was very friendly and helpful.Out triple room was on teh first floor, one window was blocked by solid wood shutter, another - not see through glass that made teh room very dark and uncomfortable during day. . The furniture was dated, but clean. Breakfast area looked really nice in teh garden,... More

We booked the hotel last minute as our friend we were supposed to be staying with had to work away on business- and we were so glad we did! We were welcomed from our taxi by one of the friendly staff who then helped us with our luggage into reception so we could check-in. Although our flight meant we got... More

We stayed here for three nights. After we had checked in, we were led back outside and walked about fifty yards to the end of the street to an apartment building. The room was large and clean but cold. It had its own small garden which could have been lovely but it had been a long time since any gardening... More

This was our first stay here and it certainly won't be our last. This is a 48 room hotel composed of several buildings, all nicely renovated. The best aspect of this hotel is it's wonderful and accommodating staff. Always friendly, always helpful and always patient. Travelers tip: Breakfast is from 7-10 a.m., but arrive before 8:00 a.m. To avoid a... More

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast served in a garden room which was very nice and lots to choose from. Very old hotel but clean and comfortable. Reasonably priced. About a 10 minute walk to piazza maggiore. Would stay here again. The only negative thing I would say is it was very noisy... More

We were at the end of a culinary tour of Tuscany, and decided to stay in Bologna to allow us to visit Osteria Francescana. We chose this hotel based on Trip Advisor recommendations and were not disappointed. We arrived at around 1pm and the woman at the desk said that our room wasn't ready, but she found another "nicer" one... More

We needed a place to stay in Bologna before an early flight the next morning so I picked Porta SM based on reviews. I'm not sure what the hype is about, it's a good hotel but definitely not the best. I can't believe someone called it "hotel heaven" and "the best stay on their trip". I hate to see the... More

pros: very, very friendly, helpful and informative staff; great location (10 min walk to center), room clean and comfortable bed cons: small and awkward bathroom; noisy street due to early morning traffic (garbage collection), so ask to avoid street side room, difficult to use TV

The hotel was advised by our friends and they were very kind during our reservation communication. The hotel consists of 4 or 5 bologna apartments that meet in a central ale. The ale is also the dining area. Inside decoration is lovely and authentic. You can barrow a bicycle to go downtown. The hotel provides indoor parking for a reasonable... More
