After seeing wonderful reviews, I printed out a Trip Advisor Plus rate quote and shared with travel companions who quickly agreed we should stay here for our 4 night, 2 room stay. Went to book the next day and Trip Advisor Plus pricing was gone, replaced by much higher price. Emailed hotel to see if they would honor previous price. They quickly replied they would, as long as I provided documentation. We emailed the quote and hotel again replied promptly they would be happy to honor the lower price and the manager would get back to us with booking instructions. Then we waited. The next email, a few days later, said they had "discussed the rates" and then quoted us the higher rate posted on the website, not mentioning the previous lower rate they had agreed to. Hotels have every right to raise prices as demand increases. However, when you agree to sell a customer an item for one price in writing ,and then snatch it away and sell it to the highest bidder, that's being dishonest. And that is how Corona d'Oro treated us. We took our $2200 booking elsewhere.…
The hotel has a friendly front desk staff who are very helpful with restaurant suggestions. The evening clerk was especially helpful, as we needed to obtain a Covid test prior to our return to the U.S. We tried multiple pharmacies but they all indicated they were fully booked. He called numerous places until he found one a 20 minute walk from the hotel. The breakfast service and selection was excellent. The eggs were especially tasty. The breakfast area is in a bright skylight lit foyer that makes for a very appealing setting. The only downside is the rooms are extremely tight. But since it's an old structure and minutes from the main square, it is understandable and well worth the squeeze!
Easily one of the best hotels we stayed in Italy, despite the unfortunate name given the pandemic, lol. The staff, especially Irina, were warm and welcoming and the hotel is quiet with a luxurious feel. As Americans, we love air conditioning and the A/C in the room was incredible and the bed was THE BEST. I'm not sure what's the deal with Italians and uncomfortable beds, but the bed at the Hotel Corona d'Oro was the best we slept on by far. It's so centrally located that you can walk to all of the sites within 10-15 minutes. The coffee bar next door was so good, we went twice. Hotel parking was pricey, but given the parking restrictions, it makes sense and it was nice to have safe garage parking during our stay. Wish we stayed longer!
This is a really lovely hotel- beautiful rooms. Perfect central location. What really makes it even better is the staff. Every single one of them were gracious, very happily helpful and smiling. We stayed 2 nights and highly recommend this boutique gem.
We considered a few different options ahead of booking the corona d’or as we did find the price high for a non-chain four star. However it was well worth it: - right in the centre of town, a brief walk takes you anywhere in the old centre - comfortable and clean room - old style but clearly refurbished. Don’t expect a modern 5* bathroom however it is luxurious in a more old fashioned way - breakfast was small but very good and the service there was top notch, kind & personable If arriving from airport we recommend the airport transfer - it was 35 eur so not much more than a taxi but we were picked up right outside the terminal by an s-class who whisked us to the hotel through the maze that is the old centre of bologna
