The Royal Carlton looks from the outside like a typical resort hotel but inside it's more traditional and clearly has a strong business following. We visited on a weekend break. The hotel is a 10-minute walk into the town centre and despite the rain we took advantage of Bologna's many colonnades to stay pretty dry. Its location means it's probably... More

We really thank you for your detailed comment about your stay in our hotel. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and we are sorry for the power cut you experienced. Unfortunately the power cut was solved as soon as possible but the real problem was that some of the control units had problems due to the power cut and,... More

I stay at lots of hotels around the world as an international trade attorney. This was my first time in Bologna, and someone recommended this hotel to me. It is just outside the restricted car zone, and 10 minute brisk walk to central piazza. There is a simple free breakfast served from 6:30 to 10;30 included. Parking is 20 Euro... More

We stayed at the Royal Carlton on the last day of our vacation as a base from which to explore Bologna. It is a fantastic location - a 10 minute walk to Piazza Maggiore, and a lovely walk at that. The room was enormous - we had asked for a double with space for a cotbed. I am used to... More

I've been staying here for years and never think to try somewhere else in Bologna so it must be ok. Good quality, decent rooms, everything works as it should and the front desk staff are friendly and professional. If anything, the hotel is a bit anonymous but I don't mind that. It's just a short walk from the bustling centre... More

A very nice Hotel with beautiful fountains and lighting/seating arrangements. Rooms are also very good and the breakfast is kinda lavish. Restaurant serves very good italian food and wine and the coffee shop, i should say, is a place to hang out if you are a cafe lover like me. :) if you need an english newspaper, pls ask the... More

The hotel is an excellent 4* accomodation, in a very convenient location behind the main railway station and near to the city center. Particularly pleasant are the warm welcome and the elegant interiors, with all the conforts, both in the rooms and in the big lobby. The rooms are quite spacious and perfectly clean. I would recommend this hotel without... More

I stayed here for 3 nights for business. This is a very nice 4 star hotel, well located between the train station and central historic Bologna. While it is ugly from the outside, the inside is quite nice. My room was quite large, with 2 comfortable twin beds, 2 lounge chairs, a desk and chair, and a large 32 inch... More

The Carlton Hotel is what you would expect of a four star and was a good choice for a weekend in Bologna. Rooms were of a good standard and beds very comfortable. Only issue we had was that a) they do not provide irons and ironing boards in the room, and b) they cannot provide one for you to use... More

Well, the Royal Carlton is home away from home. I spend about 20 days per month in this hotel. So I know the staff very well, and they are all great!! The location is perfect - quite, close to the train station (but not in the bad area), and easy walk to the historic center. They recently put in a... More
