The central location is excellent. You arrive at the main station from the airport in seven minutes on the amazing Marconi Express. The hotel is less than a ten minute walk away. From here you can walk to most of the places you want to visit and there are many good restaurants in the neighbourhood for al fresco dining. The hotel itself is very comfortable and there is a decent, fairly-priced restaurant. Breakfast is more varied than the standard Italian one. If you don’t like the coffee from the machine (which we thought was OK but our friends are more choosy) just ask the friendly staff and they will bring you a special one from the kitchen. We weren’t quite sure what to expect when we booked but were very satisfied and would highly recommend this hotel.
We really liked this hotel despite having got off to a poor start. The little lobby is nice with the cute staircase, despite the initial shabby street entrance. When we returned to room later at night, as we just put our stuff in the afternoon and left to explore the town we found just one chair and no suitcase holder. Having just come from Florence where there were two of everything I called reception. No answer. Ultimately I went down and asked the man at the front desk for the missing stuff. He banged on about the room being basic and that a double room is only space for 2 on the bed, one chair, no suitcase holder for any one as is the case anywhere else (according to him)!!!! The second time I came to ask for a chair as he would not respond to the phone, and again I had to call out for service. I heard him grumble and groan at being called. Again a banging on about the basic room. It's purported to be a four star so I was flummoxed but did not back down. I have some travel experience in my life. I got the stuff despite that unnecessary feeble exchange which I did not get the point of as from his attitude I had expected a real fight and was ready to leave the hotel. Thereafter I am happy to say it was smooth sailing and no further hitches. We were so happy to discover later that the others at the front desk were wonderful, as was the receptionist who checked us in before the unfortunate encounter. The breakfast room is lovely and airy. A few plants and flowers would make it perfect. Breakfast was pretty good and the service was absolutely smashing. The location is superb. Wonderful restaurants at hand, walking distance to the centre and everywhere good really. I guess they could do something to improve the street entrance (before one reached the sliding doors) as it looks pretty slummy and gives the wrong impression. Overall, great hotel, highly recommended. I do not let little incidents cloud my view.…
My son & I spent a night here while on a Serie A tour. The hotel is located on the main road from the train station to the Duomo square, an easy walk from the latter and numerous restaurants. Hotel parking is available. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was fairly spacious by European standards, with good amenities. We had a room on the front, on the main street, but did not find it too noisy. Breakfast was excellent, with a good variety of choices. Overall a very good base for exploring Bologna.
This hotel is in a great central location between the train station and the historic old town, on one of the main roads of the city. The rooms are off a good size and are relatively quiet, despite being on a busy road. The rooms and hotel feel dated and in need of some love. The water pressure for the showers was poor, so much so that it was essentially a dribble. Breakfast was also a bit of a sad offering and service was a bit hit and miss.
The hotel is super central, directly on via Indipendenza the main boulevard of Bologna. Parking garage is also under the hotel and should be booked in advance. The hotel is already a bit shabby. Our room was very warm and there was no possibility to open a window. Also the matresses where very bad. The breakfast was chaotic, even with pre-registration: not enough tables.
