We stayed 4 nights & we loved the location. Easy to walk into the centre & great access to the train station which suited us as we done day trips to Ravenna & Parma. The reception staff were always helpful & we enjoyed the breakfast. I would have given a 5 star review but our room 101 had a very awkward bathroom to navigate & badly designed. The door hit the bidet & to close the shower screen was positively dangerous as you had to lean out of the way risking slipping. The hotel mitigated this by supplying a shower mat. The higher floors have been refurbished so I can’t believe the same mistakes would have been made again.

What a wonderful hotel- somewhat old European! Beautifully decorated with great white linen sheets and towels. Staff was very helpful. Very quiet hotel so centrally located! The breakfasts were wonderful and so plentiful! The only tiny issue was that wifi was not that great! We would definitely come here again and recommend it to others!

My experience at this hotel was excellent. Andrea, Gianluca and Alfred went out of their way To be helpful. While enjoying a drink at the bar, Alfred introduced us to a amaro Jefferson which we Never had before in Italy. We went back for more the next evening. These individuals possess All qualities for great hospitality. Mille gratzie for the way you made us feel.

I came to Bologna on a group scholarship trip, and we stayed at Hotel Internazionale for nine days. Throughout our whole stay the staff were so friendly and helpful. Our (large) group had dinner at the hotel bar/restaurant area twice, many of us got drinks at the bar many nights, so we got to know the bar staff, especially Gianluca (I hope I spelled it correctly). On the last night we were in Bologna (and Italy), I had realized I forgot to get olive oil to bring back for a family member who had asked for it, but it was late and most places were closed. So I (embarrassingly) asked the hotel staff if they had a bottle of olive oil I could buy off of them. They were so kind and willing to help me, and found an extra bottle for me. When I offered to pay for it, Gianluca insisted that I take it as a gift, and I cannot express how greatful and appreciative I am of his kindness. Grazie mille to Gianluca and everyone at Hotel Internazionale for your generosity and hospitality. I would absolutely go back in a heartbeat.

This hotel has a lot of great things going for it - location (close to the train station and also close to the main square), quiet, clean, nice staff, good breakfast, access to a gym… but a hotel is meant for sleeping. And the bed in my room was hands down the worst I’ve ever slept (or tried to) on. I’ve been more comfortable sleeping in a tent or a hostel. This is not what I expect from a 4 star hotel. I’ll also note that I splurged for a 4 star hotel to be more comfortable. I spoke to the front desk and explained how bad it was but was told I couldn’t switch rooms and that housekeeping “has some tricks to make it more firm” that they could try the next day. Unless they have a mattress factory, that really won’t help. So instead of extending my stay I opted to switch hotels the next day. And the one night I was at this hotel, I ended up moving my bedding to the floor. Really a unreal that a 4 star hotel keeps old mattresses so long that guests are more comfortable sleeping on the floor. Please upgrade your mattresses for other guests. Dated decor is one thing, mattresses that are from the last millenium is another.

Great hotel within walking distance of the heart of the city, ten minute walk to train station. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nicoletta resolved a problem we had with kindness and understanding, Vanessa was really helpful on the phone when we were stuck at Heathrow for 18 hours and Rachele was amazing throughout our stay. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the room was comfortable and clean. A great stay in a wonderful city.

This hotel was booked as our base for a tour with Riviera and they chose well. We arrived at 1pm and luckily rooms were ready, as check in is technically 2pm. After a 5.55am flight that was welcome news. !t's a lovely old building in a great location but it is on a busy junction so street noise is obviously noticeable. We actually thought the window was open but it wasn't! I don't think it was double glazed. That said, the noise from adjoining rooms was minimal. The room was spacious and well equipped. As always, there was no bin for recycling, which is a pet hate of mine! The buffet breakfast was in a beautiful room and was a lovely spread. The various croissants were fresh, flaky and delicious. If you wanted a coffee which wasn't available from the machine you only had to ask and the staff would make it and bring it to the table. The internet was rubbish. It was a weak signal, slow and very unstable and you had to log in every day. One night I woke at 3.30am to what I thought was a smoke alarm, which stopped....then I heard a weird clicking noise which seemed to be in the corridor. At first I thought it was someone wheeling cases along to the lift but it kept going. I looked out but could see nothing. I then thought it sounded like an electrical noise and phoned down to reception who said they would send someone to investigate. I looked out again to see a staff member who stopped by what I soon learnt was the electrical unit next door, which was cleverly disguised as a mirror. He didn't speak much English but I gathered that it 'happened sometimes' and was 'nothing serious'!! Of course I still couldn't sleep for ages and it was continuous. As we left for breakfast an electrician was working on it, so they clearly got onto it as soon as they could. He worked there on and off for hours and thankfully he must have fixed it and the noise stopped. We were in room 224 so if that happens again.......don't be surprised! I only gave the rating 4 because of poor internet and noise issues, nothing else.

Great location - easy walking distance from the main square and sites. Buffet breakfast was good. We paid for a deluxe room and it was worth the extra. Huge room with sofa, dining table and huge bed. Effective air conditioning. Quiet. Would return again and again.

Slightly impersonal reception behind a plexiglass screen and only sometimes offering a muted buongiorno. I guess the comes from a larger hotel. But all dealings were positive. The hotel is a short, easy walk from the train station largely under cover of the magnificent porticos of Bologna. Our superior room was fine with good, quiet air con, comfortable and mostly clean. It was quiet except for traffic noise from the road next to the hotel. I assume deluxe rooms face the internal garden and would be worth the extra. Wifi wasn’t encrypted and worked well most of the time but froze at busy times. Breakfast was fine if uninspiring. One day almost everything was empty - we must have arrived just after some large groups and it took a while for things to be restocked. The coffee from the machine was really bad but if you ask they will make you a better coffee from the bar. The room maid came into our room just after 10 on the last day. Checkout is at 12. Sigh. So yes, it was mostly good.

We were unhappy with our hotel in Bologna and visited this hotel to see if a room was available for the next evening. They were fully booked. We spoke to the manager Nicoletta, a most charming individual. We asked her if she could recommend a restaurant and she called several to find them all booked for the evening. She advised us where to walk to to see various drop in restaurants. What an amazing manager to go to so much trouble to assist tourists who are not even a guest of your hotel. We stayed and had a drink in the hotel bar and when Nicoletta saw us she came over to chat. If we return to Bologna we will certainly chose this hotel.
