This was the third and last stop on our Italia Adventure. Previously stopped in Venice & Florence. The hosts were really kind & informative. It’s a shame we did not get to complete our stay in it’s entirety due to lockdown restrictions but nevertheless the staff were great at understanding our situation. When we checked in, information about the city & effects of Covid 19 was explained to us. It was new waters in terms of the lockdown then, so I appreciate the guys couldn’t tell us what they did not know. The room itself was clean, few scuffs from wear here & there but in no doubt clean. The shutter idea for the light is a welcome facility & one we took full advantage of. The decor average, nothing too flash but not in dire need of a revamp either. The location is actually probably its best quality. You are in the heart of the city with all the attractions a nice stroll or short metro/cab ride away. Again, our trip was curtailed so we didn’t get to go to all the sites we wanted to. Only negatives for me, was the bed, not the most comfortable but bearable, felt more like sleeping in a tent... I don’t know if it was because of the room we was in but the noise from the flat upstairs was excessive. If it wasn’t chairs sliding around during the day, then it was the 2am & then 3am wake up call of furniture bouncing loudly off the wall. Obviously this is out of the control of the staff but maybe a polite word with the neighbours is in order. I’m not usually perturbed by noise but in this instance it was an annoyance. Overall, a decent hotel. Location, cleanliness & most facilities are average to good here. An uncomfortable sleep with the noisy neighbours up above for me let this place down.…
Read many reviews here at Tripadvisor and decided on Merulana Inn Guesthouse. The hotel is a few blocks away from Roma Termini train station, we walked from the station to the Hotel on Via Merulana, even with our big luggage. The main entrance does not give credit to the updated and clean rooms of the Guesthouse. We immediately were greeted by Anderson who guided us to our rooms. He also showed us how to get around Rome's main tourist places mostly walking from the Hotel, or taking the nearby metro to get to the Vatican and the Roma Olympic Stadium. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby like Casa Maria right in front of Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore. On our first day, after dinner, we walked to Plaza Venezia, the Trevi Fountain, to the Coliseum and back to the Guesthouse. Everything was great for us, the Guesthouse room's were very clean, the breakfast was very good, and the personal attention from the staff was Excellent. They even packed small breakfast on the final day of our stay since we had to catch an early train to Paris. We enjoyed very good food, specially at 'Mimi e Coco' and 'Cantina e Cucina'. Hablan Espaniol para la gente de Espania o Latinoamerica,…
Check in was smooth, the room was very clean but a little bit noisy because it’s on a Main Street, with a convenient location. I think a little bit nearer the coliseum has better food etc. Bed was overall comfortable. The staff were polite and professional. They stored our luggage safely on the day of check out and were responsive on WhatsApp. But the place... how can I describe the smell. Think “candy store dipped in bleach with burned confectioner’s sugar on top.” It was hard to breathe. We both got headaches from being in the room for 15 minutes. We left the window open while we went out for the afternoon (diesel fumes from the street being preferable to that smell), and even when we came back, there was still a lingering sickly sweet artificial smell stuck to every every surface, including the bed. I got a sore throat from sleeping in that room, which developed into the cough I have now. I won’t be back.…
Went for a short visit to Rome and Merulana Inn was recommended to me, It could not have been more perfect, superbly located easy to get to everywhere I wanted. Clean comfortable rooms and the friendly, helpful staff made me feel very welcome. Will definitely be going back
Away from the hustle of downtown Rome, yet close enough to walk to the Spanish Steps and Pantheon. Five minute walk to Vatican City and plenty of highly rated restaurants around. Beds were comfortable and access into and out of the building was easy.
We stayed for 4 nights in August. We were very pleased wth our accommodations. Rooms were a good size, extremely clean and affordable. We enjoyed our breakfast each morning, there was a good selection of items. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Walking distance to most attractions. Very safe neighbourhood and close to train station. Would not hesitate to stay there again.
This small guest house is a haven in Rome very close to Termini station and many sights, bus stops and Metro. Travelling with three other couples this place compared very well to the other properties that we stayed in during our week in Italy (reviews of Hotel Beatrice and Hotel do Pozzi). The room was spacious by European standards as was the washroom. A minor niggle is that the lighting in the room is not great - but who is going to Rome for the lighting in your room? It is on the third floor of the building but has a small elevator to get your bags there. The guest house is clean, the breakfast is good (but not as good as the other properties we stayed at) with some cereal, ham, cheese, fruit, toast, hot drinks, and the service is attentive. On checking out, Judy noticed a small item left in the safe and returned it to us - much appreciated! Our shuttle arrived 90 minutes after check out and we were able to leave our bags in the breakfast area before leaving. We walked to the Colosseum, back from the Forum and Santa Maria Maggiore is almost on your doorstep. There are two supermarkets within easy reach and Judy was full of information of how to get to the Vatican in time for our 10am tour. We ate at three different places within the neighbourhood - the most expensive being about 20 euro including wine. WIth only 6 rooms this place was a great place to stay for our group and I would highly recommend it for similar sized groups.…
Stayed here for 5 nights with my son. We were very well looked after. All the staff were very friendly, breakfasts were amazing, hotel very clean & always smelled lovely. Close to main transport hub & a few mins walk from Colosseum. Loads of bars & restaurants in walking distance. I'd have no hesitation in staying here again.
The Merulana Inn Guesthouse is just wonderful. From the very first communication with Anderson, to leaving four days later, everything was just perfect. The room was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The breakfasts each morning were delicious and freshly prepared, and served in a separate dining room. There was a wide choice of food and nothing was too much trouble - even to us having an early breakfast on the day we left - thank you! There is a small lift if you have suitcases, which we used on our first and last days, but the stairs weren't a problem. The guesthouse is an easy 10 minute walk (even with suitcases) to Termini and from there it's easy to buy a ticket for the Leonardo Express. The beautiful Santa Maria Maggiore is 100 metres away and it is an easy walk to the coliseum and Ancient Rome. We used the metro a couple of times but everything is in walking distance from the guesthouse. Everyone we met at the Guesthouse was so pleasant and friendly, and so helpful. I cannot rate the accommodation highly enough and if I were to come back to Rome I would definitely stay here. Just fantastic!…
