The hotel's location is what is their best feature. It's 5 minutes away from Termini station which is a plus. The hotel does not have air conditioning in every room. We were very disappointed of this fac as the weather outside was quite warm, around 19 degrees, but inside was cold. When i went to check with the receptionist, he...

This budget hotel exceeded our expectations in every way-- clean, efficient room, ample good breakfast, and an owner and 2 daughters always there to help in any way. Located about 400 yards from the busiest entrance to the main train station in an old area of small hotels and restaurants. There are always tourists pulling suitcases on the sidewalks, so...

Bathroom was less than clean upon arrival including long hair on the sink and on the toilet (They were not mine as my hair is super short and nobody else entered my room while I was there.) My room overlooked a somewhat noisy street. It was not too noisy on Saturday or Sunday morning but was super noisy on Monday...

Hotel is close to Termini station. So, it is very convenient to use metro or bus. But if you want to go to Trevi Fountain or Piazza Navona via walk, it is very tired. The room is a little old and clean. But I couldn't control the air conditioner. So I felt the cold at the night. And fan in...

My husband and I travelled with our 4 kids and we booked for 2 triple rooms. Hotel Maryelen was a pleasant surprise in area of Termini Station. The rooms were clean, with good AC, and hotel staff warm and accommodating. Breakfast was limited though, but that was alright, since with the low room rates you shouldn't expect a banquet. The...

Do not expect too much from this hotel. It is close to Termini station, so it is very convenient for tourists. The front desk people were friendly as well. The area is a sketchy at night time. Room had a balcony which was nice, but overall very poor lighting.

I knew that I could not expect much from a 2 star hotel in Rome, but hotel Maryelen was much worst than my expectations. The things that disappointed me most were the hairs all over the towels and linens and the very poor breakfast. It has nothing to do with the buffet you see in the pictures.

I booked a double room for single use and it was a pleasant surprise. The hotel is a short walk fro the main train station in Rome, so everything is very accessible. The room was a good size, and the hotel security was 24 hours. The walk to your room entailed three security features. The room had high ceilings and...

This is a very basic but adequate hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable although we found the beds a bit hard. The staff are cheerful and all helpful and the continental breakfast is generous. The hotel is centrally located an easy walk from Termini and has easy access to a good choice of local restaurants. very good value for...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
