I stayed at the Hotel Siracusa in March. I was a part of a college group of 54 people and we stayed at Siracusa for 6 nights. The hotel is across the street from the main train station in Rome, so as is the case, there was hustle and bustle almost 24 hours a day, with the exception of early...

A disgusting place to stay and absolutely no reason for anything close to three stars. Dirt, smell and noise were the most common things we experienced. Hairs in the tub and sinks, broken toilet seat, corroding tub and sink, grime on counters, grime on floors, stained walls, stained bedspreads, stained headboards, smell that required the broken windows to be opened...

Just come back from 5 nights stay in this hotel. There were 17 of us in our group, students and tutors, and no one had any complaints. My single room was small but clean, with shower, loo, basin, bidet, tv, phone, hair drier, safe, and air conditioning. The shower was powerful, with plenty of hot water, even very early in...

What's the problem with this hotel, folks? I just returned from a 4-day stay in Rome in "the worst place on earth", the Siracusa. I didn't run as far as I could. Well, I confess: I travelled a lot in Italy with schoolgroups (I am a teacher), and I've never stayed in such a pretty place like this. The breakfast...

I just returned from a school trip from the states and this hotel was our last impression of Europe. It was a very bad one! Customer service was horrible. The rooms were tiny, some rooms didn't even have toilet paper in them... several rooms had lots of bugs...they looked like tics..they were so bad one set of students had to...

I just returned from a trip to Rome with a group of 34 middle school children and 10 teachers. It was sponsored by EF Tours. When I read the Trip Advisor reviews posted about the Hotel Siracusa, I was both disappointed and worried, as we had no control over the hotel that was selected. Once we arrived, however, I was...

Our party consisted of 40 teenage schoolboys and 5 adult leaders. When we arrived at the Siracusa it looked dodgy from the start. Located across the street from main underground station, which was littered with empty beer bottles. A few drunks were loitering about and illegal street traders had set up their stalls right outside the hotel. It wasn't safe...

For a nicely located 3 star hotel, you would expect they should be able to provide the basic services any traveler needs. However, it is simply not the case. 36 of us (34 master degree students in hospitality management plus 2 tutors) booked the hotel well in advance for our acdemic visit in Rome. On our arrival, they did not...

I found this hotel to be terrific; it's right across from the train station, and it was not expensive at all (80 Euros per night, including breakfast). My room was small but just fine; a double bed with good reading lights over the bed, a tv, wonderful bathroom with bidet and shower, plenty of hot water, a beautiful thick green...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
