This is a BROTHEL, not a hotel! My husband and I booked this on [---] and it looked like it was nice and clean and basic, just what we wanted. However, when we got there we first couldn't find it. The shop owner next door said there was no such hotel and she even rang the number but there was...

Booked 2 doubles and both couples (i was part of one) were very happy with the accomodation. The rooms were large and clean. The staff spoke very little english which made communication a little difficult but they were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was good and hosted in a nice courtyard. Good smell of the bakery in the basement and I...

Just arrived home from a fanatstic trip to Rome. We stayed at the Gioia and would definitely reccomend it. Please don't be put off by the front door. It leads to a cosy hotel reception and the room was very spacious, clean and pleasant. On arrival the staff provided us with an excellent city map, it was 10pm and we...

The room we stayed in was big and clean, the bathroom was very nice and clean and we had a room with a balcony overlooking the patio where a very nice continental breakfast was served. There are only 3 or 4 rooms altogether so you feel like home ;) Gioia is situated 2 metro stations from Termini, very close to...

this place was great! A little hard to find, but we asked a passerby on the street, and he took us right to it. When we rang the bell, the clerk came out to help us up the stairs (just to floor 1) with our luggage. He showed us our room immediately, gave us 2 sets of keys (there was...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
