Price point reasonable, breakfast good, rooms comfortable and helpful staff. Busespecially into the city fairly frequent and gives you mobility without stressing about parking in Rome. Hotel needs a bit of help to bring it up to date and get rid of the 70's decor.

This Trastevere hotel was our second hotel in Rome on vacation after a quick out of town weekend. We had a car at this point of the trip, so the location worked better for us then staying Centro, and there was always convenient street parking. We also stayed here due to its location near the big Sunday flea market, which...

Breakfast buffet is great. We ate at the restaurant one evening and found the food pleasant, although the lack of atmosphere made our dining experience a little uncomfortable. Our room was smaller that we thought it would be having looked at photos on the website. Having paid extra for a superior room with spa bath we felt the spa bath...

Weren't sure about this hotel when we booked. Looked old fashioned, tired and dated. However, spotlessly clean, very pleasant staff, in great spot and very good breakfast. Would recommend. Very close to stunning hill top views if Rome City

My friend and I stayed here for a relaxing weekend in Rome. The hotel was wonderful! Immaculate, comfortable and very welcoming. The grounds were gorgeous to sit out and sip wine in the sunshine in a lovely, quiet area of the city. The location is good for a twenty minute walk down hill to the Vatican area, and then from...

A wonderful hotel in a different location. No noise virtually an excellent location to visit the church of Santa Maria Trastevere and the al fresco life around the church. The staff were extremely helpful and the breakfast could not be better.

Overall , a satisfying stay , not mad on the 1970s style colouring of the decor , but brilliant location above Trastevere , be prepared for a bracing trot up and down the steps leading to the location , generous buffet breakfast , and wonderful to be woken by the parakeets in the surrounding trees ..

Thank you Catherine, for reviewing Grand Hotel Gianicolo. We work hard to ensure guests' satisfaction. The Hotel is located in a calm and characteristic area of Rome, not too far from the center. We believe the building has very interesting features: lovely gardens, a big pool (open during Summer), and a wonderful terrace with a breathtaking view on Rome. We...

We stayed at the Grand Hotel del Gianicolo in August 16 for our anniversary. First it is a beautiful hotel in a great quiet location but still easy walking distance to the city centre and also lovely dining area of Trastevere. The hotel were very generous in that waiting for us, completely by surprise to us both was a lovely...

Staying in Monteverde

Neighbourhood Profile
Above the city on the Janiculum hill, Monteverde is Rome’s popular "getaway" neighbourhood, coveted for its greenery. Rome's largest urban park, Villa Pamphili, is the area's centrepiece with affordable prices and peace and quiet. Monteverde is just far enough away from the centre to feel like you’re on a Roman holiday and close enough to feel the lure of Rome's chaos. Though its downside is the lack of scheduled public transport, this family-oriented area is literally a well-deserved walk in the park.
