A wonderful hotel in a different location. No noise virtually an excellent location to visit the church of Santa Maria Trastevere and the al fresco life around the church. The staff were extremely helpful and the breakfast could not be better.

Overall , a satisfying stay , not mad on the 1970s style colouring of the decor , but brilliant location above Trastevere , be prepared for a bracing trot up and down the steps leading to the location , generous buffet breakfast , and wonderful to be woken by the parakeets in the surrounding trees ..

Thank you Catherine, for reviewing Grand Hotel Gianicolo. We work hard to ensure guests' satisfaction. The Hotel is located in a calm and characteristic area of Rome, not too far from the center. We believe the building has very interesting features: lovely gardens, a big pool (open during Summer), and a wonderful terrace with a breathtaking view on Rome. We...

We stayed at the Grand Hotel del Gianicolo in August 16 for our anniversary. First it is a beautiful hotel in a great quiet location but still easy walking distance to the city centre and also lovely dining area of Trastevere. The hotel were very generous in that waiting for us, completely by surprise to us both was a lovely...

Location is good but in the night doesn't feel safe to walk around,be prepared to hear all the other guests and their activities, bed and pillows are awful and very dusty...really regretted it,once maybe it was a four star hotel but not any more.

We are very sorry if you haven't enjoyed your stay at Grand Hotel Gianicolo. We shall say, though, that the area is a safe and calm one, and that beds and beddings have been renewed recently and that they are cleaned every time, we would never host our guests in dusty or dirty bedrooms. If a customer is not satisfied,...

This is one of the hotels in Rome my wife and I keep returning to when we are passing through Rome for just a day or two. The location on top of the Gianicolo hill gives us a quiet but authentic neighborhood near but not in lively Trastevere where we love to dine. We find the staff very helpful, amenities...

Pros - the hotel was in a great location and took us about 35 minutes to walk to the Vatican. The reception and breakfast staff were really helpful and the hotel lobby, garden and pool were really nice. Rooms were very clean. Cons - the pool staff were not very attentive and in the end we got our own drinks...

The views from this hotel are fantastic - overlooking Rome from the rooftoop. The garden is also nice. The rooms are ok and so is the service, although the staff downstairs are not the most attentive. Will stat there again for the location and the views.

Dear guest, thank you for reviewing our Hotel. The view from our building is great indeed, maybe one of the best panoramas of the city you can get, and being able to enjoy it while having a freshly baked breakfast is a luxory. As for the staff, is usually ready and professional. It happens sometimes, though, when the hotel is...

Beautiful hotel with nice pool but didn't get to use it as weather and time we had stopped us. Location not really good for access to trastevere as lots of steps maybe 30-40 minutes walk.good if you like walking as we covered between 10-14 miles each of 3 days. Nice little locals bar 50 yards away.

Dear tomturbo, thank you for reviewing our hotel. Grand Hotel Gianicolo is located on top of Gianicolo Hill, that is in Trastevere district, one of the most characteristic district of Rome. You can find a lot of nice cafès and restaurants around the area, that are not as turistic as the ones you may find in the centre, and you...

We arrived late at night (taking the number 75 bus from Rome Termini) which drops you a 5-10 min walk from the hotel. The hotel interior is very dated, the room was fairly small but does have a fridge and aircon. We chose this hotel for its location but the main reason was because it has a large pool, which...

Grand Hotel Gianicolo is situated in an old monastery, we, and most of our guests, believe that it still has the romantic atmosphere of an ancient building, and we don't feel like its fashion is dated, but we do understand and respect other people's opinion. We are sorry if you found our staff unfriendly, we always suggest our guests, though,...

In Rome for a Conference, but my first visit - so also had a quick glimpse of some sights. The hotel was just lovely, food excellent, room comfortable and a gorgeous outdoor pool. The staff were excellent. The hotel had an intimate traditional feel to it, and would definitely stay again. Breakfast on fourth floor terrace - lovely views.

Staying in Monteverde

Neighbourhood Profile
Monteverde
Above the city on the Janiculum hill, Monteverde is Rome’s popular "getaway" neighbourhood, coveted for its greenery. Rome's largest urban park, Villa Pamphili, is the area's centrepiece with affordable prices and peace and quiet. Monteverde is just far enough away from the centre to feel like you’re on a Roman holiday and close enough to feel the lure of Rome's chaos. Though its downside is the lack of scheduled public transport, this family-oriented area is literally a well-deserved walk in the park.
