Probably the worst hotel in Rome. Triple room for 120 pounds for 2 nights. Found a lot better one for less but it was too late. The whole place was a bit dirty and in need of a refurbishment. Our section of hotel did not smell great either - like a back of restaurant with strong smell of fried food...

I stayed here for 5 nights, and I can say that: The Good: The price was right, the location of this hotel is great, two blocks from the train station and from the metro. Also walking distance from the Coliseum. It's near to lots if restaurants and bars. The bed was comfortable, TV was in working fine and the from...

We stay at this hotel in november and it was very cold in the rooms, because the heating system was not working. In our last night it was hot in the room and the radiators were hot. The furniture is very old. It is a mid-level accomodation and price was ok. The staff was very friendly and the location is...

Only two nights here, surely we could survive that right?! Wrong! Within minutes of arriving, we were looking at changing our flight out! Firstly, we walked into the gentlemen at reception having a heated argument with a customer. We felt sorry for him initially, thinking 'poor dude is just trying to do his job'. We waited patiently in the unairconditioned...

If travelling to Rome on a budget and you are just looking for somewhere to sleep and wash then this hotel is ideal. OK it's pretty basic but the beds were comfortable enough and the shower worked fine although the hot water was a little unreliable. Breakfast is a bit of a let down as it consists of pre-packed pastries...

Recently stayed at the above ,firstly this believe it or not is not the worst hotel we have ever stayed in ,the others we just walked out of but it was a close run thing.I always try and be objective, we found the Alta Villa to be very basic with two pluses the cost was very low and the lady...

Very well placed to see the sites. Beds are terrible, shower totally wets the whole bathroom. Simple and clean though, friendly staff simple breakfeast , you must ask for proper coffee and ask for fresh pastteries.

The hotel was basic and so were the rooms. The reason I have given 4 star is on the grounds of price versus convenience. The hotel room itself was comfortable and clean although a little grubby in bits. Tiled floors and basic shower but no kettle. The breakfast was cereal and Danish buns and bread freshly made. There was a...

Booked this hotel for 3 night stay but after checking out the room which was a dark dingy hole decided to go elsewhere the photos you see are not what you get and these photos must have been taken years ago or they are photo shopped . The man who was checking us in could only grunt and was not...

I booked this hotel for 4 nights and I was really worried about staying there after reading some of the reviews. I wasn't expecting any luxuries as I only paid £140 for the whole stay. I was very pleasantly surprised when we got to the hotel with how utterly lovely the staff were and how spacious and clean our room...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
