The hotel has very friendly staff that is well spoken in English. Not something to be taken lightly in Italy. The room I was in was small and old. But very clean! Breakfast was very good with a nice variety of breads and jams. With sausages and bacon. Only choice of scrambled eggs though. TIP - Don't drink the instant...

I booked this hotel a few days in advance. When traveling to Rome, flights were delayed and I wasn't sure if we would make our flights. I ended up cancelling the room through the email. After some luck, we ended up getting on a flight to Rome. I emailed the hotel asking if they could undo my cancellation. We showed...

This was a nice hotel, good location, clean but small rooms, with polite and courteous staff. Our room had a nice view of the piazza. It did well for the family and we stayed there for four nights. We spent our days exploring Rome and the Hotel was an excellent place to retreat to at night for a good nights...

Spent 2 nights here after flying into Rome from the states. Chose the hotel mainly for its location and price. Room was on the smallish side but clean although there was mold in the bathroom in the grout and on the ceiling. Main complaint about the hotel was the noise. We were not on the street side where you get...

Hotel: the hotel is dated, but they have notites hanging around that they are renovating the place. Our first room had a bad plumming smell coming from the bathroom. We told the people at the reception about the issue and the offered us a new room without extra charge (the room was a bit bigger). So a BIG PLUS for...

This is a very reasonably priced hotel (50 euro with the special) that attracts a lot of tour groups. The rooms are decently sized, the bathrooms are nicely appointed. There is a good bar that pours generous drinks for reasonable prices. Located by one of the major ancient Roman gates it is quite a way from tourist central Rome but...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
