We had a huge corner room in the same building as the restaurant. It was the nicest room by far on our Italy trip. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. It was tucked away in a residential neighborhood, so it quiet, but it wasn't very convenient. There was a subway station about a 10-15 min walk down the hill....

The tranquility of this hotel more than compensates the 15/20 minute walk to the Colosseum / Forum from which you can easily move on to other major attractions . There are several bus services at the bottom of the hill (5 minutes easy walk ) to all of the major sites including the Vatican on bus 23 . You need...

We are a family of 4 with children aged 13 and 10. This hotel was excellent value for money. We had a quadrupple room and breakfast for a total of €129 per night .It was away from the heart of the city but within a reasonable walking distance to the Colleseum and other ancient sites. The row of shops at...

What a great hotel. The only thing that kept me from giving the Villa San Pio a higher rating was the firmness of the beds...they are really hard! Otherwise this hotel is really a gem; an oasis after a hard day of sightseeing. Beautifully appointed rooms (ours had a balcony with table and chairs) lovely gardens and a great breakfast...

Stayed here for 4 nights on a very wet Whitsun week - without this hotel the visit to Rome may have been a washout! We felt the hotel, with its charming restaurant and very helpful staff , to be well deserved its 'little gem' status. Highly reccommended.

We'll be finishing up our stay here shortly and I will regret leaving! This hotel is everything that it's said to be, excellent location (I agree with the Englishman who said that the hill it is on is not that steep - as long as you're in decent physical shape - and if you're not, hey, it's a great way...

Charming small hotel within walking distance of some of the major sites in Rome. Our room was very spacious and elegant. The grounds were very beautiful with a nice continental breakfast in the gardens every morning. I agree with some of the previous reviews that the beds are hard, but we didn't have any trouble sleeping since you're so tired...

This was the first stop on our honeymoon and we loved it! The setting is peaceful and quaint, and the room was lovely. The bathroom, shower, and jacuzzi were particularly nice. Breakfast was delicious and the garden setting in which to dine is delightful, as well. We also had dinner at the hotel one night and were not disappointed. (Chocolate...

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights in July and then, following a cruise, for a further four nights in August. We booked this hotel solely on the strength of the Tripadvisor reports, and we can fully and wholeheartedly endorse every positive report that is on this site. But first - and don't let it put...

We stayed at this property for 4 nights in July and found it to be a wonderful retreat in busy, hot and tiring Rome. Getting to the property upon arrival into Rome by train proved more difficult than it should be. The directions given by the hotel staff on how to walk from Circo Massimo metro stop do make sense...

Staying in Aventine

Neighbourhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighbourhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
