We stayed here while on a short trip to Rome for the 6 nations rugby. I was drawn to the quaint style but also it seemed to be the only hotel in Italy not set on doubling prices due to the rugby taking place. On arrival we were warmly greeted, with beautiful pastries and coffee. The staff at the hotel...

On the whole we liked hotel. Reading other reviews I'm not sure we experienced quite as much friendly service from staff and certainty no arrival drinks etc. The hotel is in a non tourist part of Rome! We walked every day of our 6 nights there. It was about a 45minute walk to Colosseum end of Rome, we found that...

Picked Villa San Lorenzo Maria Hotel based on the wonderful Trip Advisor comments. Looking at the hotel from the website does not give it the justice it deserves. I am thankful I went with the overwhelming great reviews from Trip Advisor. My wife and I arrived and Manager Antonio greeted us with coffee and an assortment of desserts. He also...

We arrived on Thursday evening to a less than warm welcome by the evening porter/receptionist. He gave us the keys to room 301, which was nothing like any of the photos from the hotel's own website, or Expedia - where we had booked. The room was so small in fact, that there was nowhere to put our luggage & the...

I booked through Expedia months ago as a surprise for my partners birthday and we were well looked after throughout. The streets surrounding the hotel are not the best but the hotel is beautiful in many ways and is a real gem amongst a run-down area. We were greeted by the receptionist who gave us our key, explained breakfast and...

Very nice hotel, with good staff and service. Rooms comfortable and with unexpected mini bar! Good selection at breakfast - meats, cheese, cereal, fruit, cakes, croissants etc. Tram stop nearby takes you to underground from where you can reach all of the sights, all for €1.50 each.

Me and my boyfriend had such an amazing hotel experience here. We booked for a week, and during that week every single member of staff went above and beyond for us. We was actually shocked how amazing everyone was. I would highly recommend staying here just for the customer service! There was a morning where the cafe was closed yet...

It's a lovely hotel, breakfast is the best i've ever had at a hotel. Spotlessly clean, staff are more than helpful. It was a tram journey away from the landmarks, such as the Colloseum, Vatican etc. The tram is cheap and easily accessible, but it makes you not want to leave the hotel at night time!! Rough area, quite on...

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo may look all street with its pulse in urban art and street food, but don’t be fooled. This gritty student neighbourhood immediately east of Termini train station is on the avant-garde rise. Art galleries, curated mural projects by artists like Rome’s favorite Alice, charming cafes, and boutique restaurants are slowly infiltrating the streets of San Lorenzo with counter-culture chic. Don’t worry, San Lorenzo still retains its local vibe with weekend festivals and demonstrations, and is always a hub for Rome’s university student scene.
