The last time we visited Rome was 10 years ago and we stayed at Hotel Santa Maria which is just beside Villa Fonte, and to be honest we looked at that Hotel again and i was booked out, but I found this one and booked direct with them and it was less than half the price. Well we are just...

With taxes and all I paid almost $150 USD per night, which I think is very expensive for what you get. I could have gotten a cheaper place, but was mislead by the ratings and price savings shown in Expedia and Tripadvisor which priced it around $234. I stayed in a single with a twin bed which I will admit...

It's the first time I have to answer at one rewiev like this. We prefer spend our time to do the best we can for the guest. Our price are on the web side and are not a surprise at the arrival. I use to work in a 4 stars hotel and the breakfast is quite the same there's not...

So charming...clean rooms, wonderful terrace, good breakfast. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. We've been a month in Italy and this was our final stop...so much more relaxing than "The Other Rome" across the river. Trastevere is a unique, authentic slice if Italy. A bit noisy but aren't most European hotels. A white noise machine and earplugs have been...

Suited us brilliantly, loved the area and the charm of the b and b. Not all staff spoke English but they were friendly and helpful. For a bed while you explore great, two terraces for some outside space. Breakfast okay, rooms a bit small but this is Rome and for the price we were happy. Liked the neighbourhood feel of Trastevere.........and...

We wanted to stay a little off the "beaten path" & really liked this neighborhood which appeared more local & less touristy. The staff was helpful though we did have a tiny bit of a problem communicating once or twice because we don't speak Italian (our fault - not theirs). The room was comfortable, the toilet modern (though the shower...

We stayed for four nights at the end of August and could not have been happier with our experience. I had stayed in Trastevere on a previous trip, and was very happy to return. The Villa della Fonte Guest House was located just a few steps from the beautiful Piazza Santa Maria where we ended every evening. The neighborhood is...

Just had four nights here and cannot rate the place high enough . Rooms and bathrooms excellent for city centre location. Staff very friendly and helpful with booking taxis, flight check ins etc. Right by piazza Santa Maria in super Trastevere as well. We will return here when next in Rome.

Fantastic location in the lively Trastevere area, however the hotel was in a quiet side street which was great for a peaceful nights sleep, except on the saturday night when the bar across the road was open. Staff were very friendly and helpful and really went the extra mile for us. The room was comfortable with a lovely ensuite. We...

Having stayed there 4 times before, we know the fine rooms and breakfast, but we are not costumed to cold weather in Rome, so this was new, we used 3 blankets for sleep, it worked. As always very little or no noise, even on this last day of the year. We stayed from 30/12-2/1-2015.Wonderful kind people and don`t forget to...

Our original b and b messed up our booking and luckily we were directed to Villa della fonte. What a treat for us. 4 nights of restful sleep in a comfortable bed in a large ensuite room. The common area for breakfast was a perfect quiet spot to start a busy day touring. The rooftop garden was delightful. One evening...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.

“We stayed during New Year's so expected a little noise but other than the night before New Years, when there were some passing revellers, it was peaceful. And there was no traffic noise. If you want total peace and quiet you could request one of the rooms that doesn't face on to the street.”
