Very conveniently situated for Termini and getting into centre of Rome. Buy a Roma pass and you can use every bus, minibus, train, tube free!!! Despite negative reviews I've read its fine. The beds are hard but comfy, bathrooms very old but clean and serviced with clean towels everyday. Water is a bit of a trickle and they do need...

This hotel was good. It was within easy walking distance to most sights and bars. Rooms were clean and our one was very large but we went with friends and there's was so small you had your feet in the shower whilst on the loo...not good

I stayed here for 3 nights in October 2011 with a friend. Even tho all we wanted was a clean hotel to put our heads down there are a few things that would of made our stay more comfortable. Check in was quick and easy, we were on the 5th floor so took the 1 lift the hotel had, it...

After reading a lot of reviews we decided despite some poor reviews to stay at the San Remo for three nights. A big mistake. The hotel was in a good location & it was clean, reasonably friendly (Providing you had no complaints) & should have suited our needs. Biggest problem was the hot water. Unless you want to shower in...

We found this hotel through Transat Hollidays. The price for the package was good so we can't complain, we got what we paid for. This to say, the hotel is located at couple of hundred meters from Termini station (train, metro main station) so very easy to get around from here. People at the hotel were friendly, but the first...

I read a lot of average/ poor reviews before spending a long weekend in Rome. 3 nights at San Remo - I can only asume that the reviews are from people, who wanted to live in the hotel (rather than just sleep) - if you treat it like a Premier Inn, excellent. All staff very friendly & helpful - when...

worried before mixed reviews before travel. Good points- near station, bus, all staff( with the exception of reception very friendly)> Sorry but thats all the good points i can think of.The room was dire, looked inward to nothing, like a prison cell, dark and depressing.Reception wouldnt even discuss the possibility of a room change, unbelievably rude and disinterested.Decided to make the best of a bad job...

So I guess most of the other reviews are correct and we have become rather spoiled so, yes, San Remo is dated and in poor shape. I did find the staff helpful and the location is good. Room was clean but it needed a new bathroom, AC didn't work but it wasn't too warm in the room. Breakfasts weren't great...

Positives: location is 5 mins from the Termini Station which is the main hub for travel on bus, train, metro etc. Negatives: hotel staff have zero skills in dealing with public. Rooms are old and unkept and smell bad. If there is hot water it usually is only warm and when taking a shower you don't even need to mix...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
