I had a very pleasant stay at hotel Montecarlo. The day and evening concierge were always kind and courteous- and extremely helpful with finding landmarks, directions. etc. I am hoping to go back to Italy, and I would most likely stay at Hotel Montecarlo. (Unless they are booked!) Its location is quiet, which personally I like, yet it is within...

We stayed at the Montecarlo twice- before and after our cruise. The first visit was for 2 nights and the second was only one night. Both rooms were so very quiet and peaceful and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was quite good. The air conditioning worked amazingly well- it was so hot in Rome that we really appreciated the a.c.! The...

We stayed there one night before our cruise, because we were taking train to Civitavechia from Termini. The hotel room is small, which is standard in europe, but the shower is really small, its hard to put soap on, i dropped it twice, had to get out of shower to pick it up, and i weigh 112 pounds, dont know...

I would say by far this was the best service we received at this hotel in our whole trip to Europe. When we walked in the door and while we were checking in the first thing the host did was pull out a map and mark exactly where we were at on the map. He then circled all the hotspot...

We had an excellent stay, even if we did feel the earthquake. An excellent clean hotel, with lovely staff very helpful. Rooms are a decent size. We enjoyed our stay. The only downside is that the hotel is little far out, next time I would stay somewhere a little closer to the centre of Rome. But very handy for the...

We enjoyed our stay at the Montecarlo Hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful, and even though we had a room facing the street it was so quiet. The area is safe and not too far from Termini train station. It is a bit of a walk to the downtown attractions, but if you take the train it's not bad....

The hotel is in a reasonable location. It is away from the main sites however fairly easy to access using public transport or a bearable walk. It took us 20min at a fairly quick pace to get back from the Trevi fountain. Allow 30mins to stoll it! Buses stopped very close to the hotel so made access very easy. Our...

What we really enjoyed: - Mr Franco Spaccialbelli at the reception desk! What a great guy, totally service-minded. - The beautifully decorated room. Very cosy. - The proximity to Termini station. - The excellent restaurants in the neighbourhood. Especially Mama Angela's and the Steakhouse around the corner. What we didn't enjoy: - The breakfast that was more like a cake...

On the first night we got lost trying to find it, once we got our bearings, it was a very easy walk to the Termini. On one corner there are embassies and Armed Guards with automatic weapons all night, so walking home we felt very safe. The room was decent and heated perfectly, the mattress was a bit hard but...

This hotel I recommend to everyone staying in Rome for a couple of days. The staff is friendly, the hotel modern, clean en quiet. The breakfast was more than sufficient with enough choice and good service. The beds were good. We had a superior twin room, with jacuzzi bath, high speed internet and lcd tv. The dvd mentioned on the...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
