We got a standard room with a double bed (which is actually two single beds put together) during our stay in Rome. The location is convenient only because it is close to Roma Termini. Otherwise expect to walk quite a bit (or take the subway) if you want to see the Trevi Fountain, Coloseum, Forum, etc. There really isn't much...

We booked and confirmed 4 rooms two months ago. We got there early and they held our luggage. So far so good. Rooms were to be ready at 2 PM. Only three were ready, and in one the air conditioning was broken - it was near 90F. That family was forced to wait until after 6 PM when they moved...

This hotel was good enough, but not fantastic. This was to be the first hotel my wife and I were to stay on our trip to Europe. We took the train from the airport to the train station in Rome then walked to the hotel from there. It was raining, but it wasn't supposed to be too far from the...

When we first arrived we were told that there was a problem with the water on our floor so they would have to move us to the hotel next door for one night. They promised to give us the nicest rooms in the hotel when we returned the next night. The other hotel was decent, but in the morning when...

I was pleasantly surprised by the Hotel Montecarlo and found that it was perfect for our family's 3 day visit to Rome. I had searched extensively on Trip Advisor but was having a difficult time finding one room to accommodate 4 people for a reasonable price. This hotel met those criteria but references to the Termini station area being somewhat...

PROS: - good sized room and bathroom, it was quite quiet and dark (at night) - the walls were covered in material, which was rather quirky and made the room feel luxurious - our room had a small balcony, albeit overlooking an alleyway, but still it was nice to open up the room to some fresh air - there is...

Great choice and good value for the Termini area in Rome - close enough to be convenient but well outside the zone of seediness. Rooms were actually beautiful - alot of time went into planning the decor and furniture. I like the separate banana beds that can be pushed together to form a double. The bathrooms were spotless. The breakfast...

Just got back from 8 days in the Montecarlo, Rome. It won't win any awards but if you want a clean, reasonably priced hotel in a good location you could do a lot worse. The hotel is 5 minutes walk from Termini (the central station) and/or Castro Pretorio metro stations. It's on a fairly quiet road, with a few nice...

Our family of 8 stayed for 3 nights. Each room varied in size (from small to large), and were very clean. Rooms overlooking the street were a little noisy, but our room in the back was very quiet. Bathroom included shampoos, lotions, shower cap, etc. as well as LARGE bath towels. Plenty of hot water and water pressure at anytime....

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
