The combination of location, quality and price makes this a very good choice for the average Rome tourist. Only a few minutes walk from the Vatican, and with other main attractions and main restaurant areas easily within walking distance. Yet, it is a quiet area so your sleep is unlikely to be disturbed. It is clean and well maintained, and...

The greeting on arrival was wonderful and friendly. The location of the hotel is superb if you like walking as it has the Vatican less than ten minutes away and the city in 20. Be careful though as the hotel is up a side street and up a long, dark and not lit alleyway which can be very intimidating when...

Located at the end of a very dark alley - not the best first impression but hotel itself is welcoming and clean. Wifi was poor - worked intermittently. Rooms fair - standard, nothing luxurious, beds were ok. Staff were great and breakfast is good however doesnt start serving til 7.30 and as we had many tours booked first thing and...

Hotel is nice with perfect location. It is within walking distance to Vatican and Rome old city as well. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms a bit moist as it was raining whole day and room service left all windows open. There are no carpets, make sure to bring slippers along.

It was a pleasure to stay at this hotel. Small, cozy, warm, nice design, very friendly owner and staff. We had a nice modern room, new decorated, clean nice bathroom. The location is fantastic, everything is walking distance. Short distance to St. Peter, Castle, etc. and just 1,2km to Travestere at night (great restaurants and bars!!, the place to be!,...

The hotel was conveniently located with a nice enough room. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was nice. The Wi-fi was horrible making it impossible to conduct the business needing to be conducted while in Rome. Concerns to staff were given with no action taken. Would not stay at this hotel again.

We spent seven nights at the La Rovere in mid-January and had a lovely stay! The location of the hotel was perfect for a walkabout stay in Rome. It's easy access to Trastevere and the Vatican, or cross the bridge Principe Amadeo to the other parts of Rome. The rooms were comfortable and clean, welcoming after a long day of...

Stayed at La Rovere. Great location just by a bridge - it was so quick to walk into the centre of Rome for a drink or meal and to explore. We had a lovely big room with lots of space. The shower was great and the bathroom was funky to look at. The hotel offered a really good choice at...

The quality versus price is definitly good. Far above average is how nice the staff of this hotel is. The people from the reception and the breakfast are verry friendly and helpful. They make this hotel. Also the room cleaning is verry good. Small tip to the owners: I could extremely well notice that the day that you were there...

My girlfriend and I stayed at this property for 4 nights over New Years Eve. The room was very clean, and quite large for European standards. We only made it to breakfast twice due to our schedules, but it was quite large, and even included eggs, which is beyond the normal cold cuts you find at similar places. The staff...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
