This charming little hotel is tucked away in an oasis of its own in the heart of Trastevere. If you are looking for a convenient location away from the craziness of the most touristy areas of Rome (but still within walking distance of them - the Roman Coliseum, the Vatican, Trevi Fountain and others) I highly recommend this hotel. The... More

A beautiful small hotel in the best part of Rome. Very helpful and excellent service. Altogether perfect! Lovely room, also great idea that they have bikes to explore this fascinating town (the bikes are free!). We shall definitely be back.

This place was a real find. We chose it based on positive reviews and were still pleasantly surprised by the experience. The hotel is located in a nest of winding streets just W/SW of the river Tiber. There are few shops or relics in the vicinity but good restaurants are plentiful. We spent our days in the traditional tourist traps... More

We spent four nights at the Santa Maria. It's an old convent build around an inner courtyard, a beautiful and peaceful oasis in the middle of bustling Trastevere. The weather was warm enough for us to enjoy wine in the courtyard almost every evening - just heaven under the orange trees! We traveled with our adult daughter, so we reserved... More

We haven't even left yet and I'm writing a review... Trastevere is the best area of Rome and this is the best hotel in Trastevere. Charming suites, charming staff, and charming neighborhood = saved the trip to Rome. I have been here before and don't especially like the city - came back for my son as this was his dream... More

Just had 6 days in this absolutely fantastic hotel in a great location. Staff are first class, rooms comfortable and the breakfast spot on. Free snacks at happy hour 1730-1930 are a highlight. This is a great base from which to explore Rome and very quiet for a good night's sleep. I have stayed in a few Rome hotels and... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
