Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It is a perfect place, with a kind staff. The rooms are renovated and clean. The breakfast is delicious. The location is just 5 minutes from Termini central station, which makes it easy to visit all the places in Rome (by walking or by metro/bus). I recommend staying!

Hotel's Favourite
After reading reviews, we decided to stay at Varese Hotel for 3 nights in Aug. We were very happy with our decision. The location was great as it was only a few blocks from the Termini. We felt completely safe in the area and there were numerous restaurants close by. The room was clean, modern, and large. Breakfast was served by staff in a room off the lobby and there were many options to choose from. The desk staff were very friendly & helpful, especially Denise. We would definitely choose to stay there again.

We were generally happy with our stay here, the room was fairly clean but slightly dated and not a lot of natural light. The staff were very polite and happy to help with any queries with smiles all round. Location was great with the main central train station a few roads away and the hop on hop off city tour buses near by. Our breakfast was included, although not a buffet breakfast it was to order. We were aloud to make multiple orders, not just one big one. In all we were happy and would definitely recommend.

My husband and I stayed here for one night and we both highly recommend this hotel. Shout out to Livio for going above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had a good stay. Our room was clean, the air conditioner worked great, the bed was very comfortable, and had a great breakfast selection. The hotel is also less than a ten minute walk to the train station and surrounded by restaurants. The icing on the cake is the lovely staff, from the front desk staff, to the breakfast staff, and general manager Massimiliano. We would stay here again next time we are in Rome.

A sad ending to our 16 day trip to Italy. This was the only hotel that offered us a sub-standard room. We were given room 23, hidden in the back end of the hotel, in a different building. You need to walk through a series of corridors past the breakfast area, past the laundry room and then through a corridor that is actually outside the building but covered so you wouldn't notice and then into the rear building where you will find rooms 19 through 23. The room is on the ground floor. The flooring is uneven vinyl flooring that is wavy and makes contact with the door to the room when you open it. The room is musty and the A/C struggles to suffice. Our floor was wet infront of the window upon our arrival. There is not one wall in this room that isn't damaged or simply disgusting. Moldy walls painted over, musty smell. Same goes with the shower area and due to the design of the shower without any door or curtain and being at the same level as the floor the whole bathroom becomes a wading pool. The insulation within the room is also very poor as we could clearly hear our neighbors showering. This is a shame because the staff here were very friendly and the service when we arrived was excellent. They kept our bags since we arrived early and offered us a free coffee and cornetto. The front desk staff was helpful with suggestions and directions. The breakfast was ok, you need to book a time slot due to limited availability. We met the deputy director of the hotel at breakfast and told him about our displeasure with the room. We checked out later that morning and they covered the city tax for us. We were told we should have brought up our concerns the night before and they would have switched our rooms but my question is why even give this room to clients if you have other rooms available? We were very dissapointed in Hotel Varese and I cannot recommend this hotel.

Very comfortable hotel within easy walking distance of Termini railway station. Having travelled for over 24 hours to get to Rome, we asked for a quiet room, and were proudly told that we had been given the hotel’s quietest room. Earplugs had been left for us too. Our room was super quiet, and had everything we needed for our one night stay. The air conditioning was excellent - very necessary, as it was 38 degrees outside. For breakfast, you need to pre-select your time. As the breakfast room is small, this system works well. The menu is extensive, and the food you select is served to you at your table. The staff are uniformly excellent and friendly. At breakfast the deputy director goes round the tables to check everything is good with your stay. I have never stayed in a hotel where this degree of care is given to ensure guests have a great stay.

Staff were very nice and wanted to make sure we had a wonderful stay. The breakfast was fantastic. Make sure to ask for melon. It was best we have had. Cappuccino was also very good. Room was good size for family of 4 and room was clean. Very convenient to train station so was easy to leverage subway system to get to spots that were further than walking distance. Overall was a great experience.

The Location is great. Just a few blocks away from Rome Termini Station and Castro Pretorio Bus Stop where you can take the 492 Bus to a lot of landmarks. Our room was a large room, with cool air conditioning, a safe and a TV. The Bathroom was a little bit too small. There was free Breakfast in the hotel, which was delicious and had a lot of choices, but you have to book a resevation for it. The staff were friendly and helpful. You can also leave luggage at the hotel and pick it up later. Overall, our stay was nice and pleasant. Would come back.

The location is good; around 5 minute walk to the main railway station. Stayed in a 3-bed room, which was quite large for a hotel in this area. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and offered ample choices. Air conditioning helps a lot for a hot summer in Rome. Down sides: need to make a reservation for breakfast time; bathroom a little small; water dropping from air conditioners in the mornings.
