We spent our last night in Rome here and wished our other Rome accommodation was as nice as this. We stayed on the newly renovated 5th floor and it was great. Nicely furnished, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms. Staff was so nice and the WiFi worked great. This hotel is on the Coliseum side of Rome and close to the train...

My husband and I visited Rome, Florence, and Santa Margherita. This was by far the best hotel. Excellent beds! The rest of the beds in other hotels were too hard. The ones at Hotel Sonya are supportive, but soft. The wait staff is so helpful! Ivan was amazing!!! He made reservations on trains for us and gave us tons of...

We spent three nights in hotel. Everything was wonderful, very friendly atmosphere, the receptionists gave us some helpful information.I had asked for a room with a nice view, and I got it.The room was cosy and modern equipped, including a kettle, a tea set and a hair dryer. We were especially fond of the interiors, very stylish with their Christmas decorations....

Our stay was very nice. The room was adequate and the hotel is in a great location for walking to sites. The hotel staff was fery friendly and willing to help with direction to specific places. A very nice breakfast was included in the price. I would definitely return to this on a future trip to Rome.

A great hotel within 5 minutes of the main railway/ bus station so easy to get to and from with cases. The rooms are large with a full sized show in the bathroom. The breakfast was standard Italian fare with pastries, cooked meats, cereals, fruit and yogurts, so if you could always find something to eat. If you needed any...

We stayed at the Hotel Sonya for four nights prior to boarding a cruise. Room was clean with a view out the back over neighboring building courtyards and thus very quiet. Room was kept spotless during our stay. Breakfast was delightful - lots of freshly made pastries, cakes, and an excellent vegetable tart. Location was excellent - we walked all...

We stayed at the Hotel Sonya for 5 nights in November 2011 before boarding a cruise ship. We walked (dragging one suitcase) from the train station without difficulty. I had used Google maps to get the lay of the land. We were given a small room on a higher floor. The bell man brought our bags up showed us the...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
