An average hotel. The service staff in the morning breaksfast room was superb, attentive and helpful. The breakfast was good. The evening desk clerk was a bit arrogant and even dismissive when we paid our hotel bill. The issue was the city hotel tax. Our email confirmation read two Euro per night person. When we paid, he said it was...

I stayed here based on a few deciding factors. It is a six to ten minute easy walk to the hotel from the Termini train station where you can arrive from the airport, cruise port or any other rail service in Europe. It is located in a quiet part of town near the opera house, and it is a 15-20...

This hotel was in a fantastic location, the best place to stay! The price was very good for quality. When we arrived, we were greeted by welcome arms - room was modern, shower was great! Breakfast was basically pastries (which were freshly made from a third party), cheese and salami - but perfect! The lift was something else..the lift was...

This is my second stay with Hotel Sonya. My daughter and I went to Rome for a week and I was familiar with Sonya and decided to give it another try. The staff is nice and very helpful and our room was nice with a very nice bathroom. The free breakfast is great and they give you an 8% discount...

Close to the train station, and across from the Opera House,my husband and I loved to walk, we know Rome well and always a destination for us. The hotel is clean but the staff are not helpful. When asked direction , they just give you a map. The breakfast was ok , but since you're in Rome no need to...

Hotel Sonya is in an excellent location - approximately 5 minute walk from the Termini train station, across the street from the Opera House. Very clean and modern with a friendly staff. The breakfast buffet was varied and delicious. I highly recommend this hotel too all who travel to Rome.

Great location near Termini station and close to major bus routes. Room was very clean, quiet, and cool with great storage space. Unusually spacious and newly renovated bathroom. Wonderful breakfast, and the staff were always happy and eager to help us. We really enjoyed our stay and even added to our originally-planned timeframe because we found it so convenient and...

Elevator broke down after we checked in on a Saturday and wouldn't be fixed until after we would depart, they said. We were forced to go up and down 5 flights of marble type stairs including the last day with our luggage at 4 am in the morning! Food was not that great for breakfast, had a lot of food,...

We found this hotel to be in an excellent location, approximately a 10 minute walk to the central train station (Termini). The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful, the room was updated, comfortable and clean and the daily (included) breakfast was fantastic! We will definitely stay here again when we return to Rome!

Comfortable clean rooms. Good and very friendly service especially at breakfast. The hotel is very central and very easy to get to. You can walk to the central station (Termini ) in about ten minutes. The hotel is a budget hotel very well worth the price that you pay.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
