If you've got a thick wallet, then Splendide Royal is definitely one of the places to stay in Rome - situated near the Villa Borghese, it's a really quiet tourist-free place with dazzling views (we had a Deluxe room overlooking the villa's gardens) and friendly service, not to mention its chic rooms. Most notable shopping, dining and cultural venues are...

Great place to stay. The hotel is perfect in a perfect area. Thisis such a great hotel - it is lovely, unique in design and in quality of stay. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the service is familiar and professional. A big thank to the lovely staff at the Splendide Royal, who made our stay truly memorable. We spent 7...

We stayed on the 6th floor in a spacious room (by Euro standards) with a balcony, ask for the balcony, as it affords wonderful views, a great spot for early coffee or a late glass of wine. The staff were always very helpful with excellent "local" restaurant suggestions and often asking how our day went. We were here for 4...

because you're going to need it! To start with the positive things, airport transfers were efficient, the location was pretty good for shopping/restaurants, the internet was fast, the room quiet and the view from the Mirabelle restaurant balcony was pretty good. As for the negatives, considering how expensive the rooms are I was disappointed that nothing was inclusive. We had...

A day before our stay at the beautiful Splendide Royal, I emailed the room manager to let them know when we would be arriving and that we were on our honeymoon. When we arrived at the hotel the Italian charm and welcoming staff, who are yes Italian!, and also speak very good English, ensured our stay got off to a...

We stayed 4 days at Hotel Splendide Royal and have the fondest memories to show for it. We loved the location as it was an easy walk to Via Venneto. The hotel restaurant (although pricey) was a fabulous lookout point for all of Rome. Three out of the four nights we enjoyed walking to Harry's Bar to enjoy the entertainment...

We spent 6 nights at the Splendide Royal (Oct 2-7, 2009). We had a junior suite with terrace. The hotel looks as beautiful in person as it does on the website. We found the staff most accommodating. Luca, who was working the front desk and also as concierge while we were there, remembered our names and was always very cheerful...

By all accounts the hotel was clean and orderly, however, the rating and price do not match the experience. An entire side of the hotel lacked a view other than an alley or building despite advertising breathtaking vantages. Unfortunately, only the front desk staff could speak languages other than Italian, and when they did, it was somewhat challenging to communicate...

We stayed at this hotel during our recent visit to Italy. While the hotel and rooms are very nice, we found the service to be very stuffy, and we had a very bad experience at breakfast. We thought the breakfast was included with the room, but to our chagrin we found that our coffee & pastry cost 33 Euros (about...

Dear Guest, we regret to hear from you that your experience at the Splendide wasn't satisfactory. We are surprised that you weren't aware that your reservation rate doesn't include breakfast. The Splendide offers two kind of rates, a promotional one including breakfast called promo bed&breaksfast and a another one room only called best available rate, you can find both on...

The nice sized room was ready early when we arrived from the airport. The room was nicely furnished, quiet, and the maid service was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is very well located. They arranged for a tour for 6 of us with Roberto and it was great. The conceirge was just ok. We would definitly...

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighbourhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighbourhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighbourhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 20:00.
