My husband and I took our first trip to Italy this summer, and after weeks of poring over reviews and maps and soliciting all the advice we could, we decided to make Rome our first stop for 3 nights before heading to Siena then Sorrento. The Sofitel looked lovely in the photos, inside and out, and I have to say:...

We absolutely loved our four day stay at the Sofitel in Rome. Sofitel always have high standards and I would choose this chain over others when I can. The hotels never seem to have such a 'corporate' feel but retain an element of intimacy. The staff are always impeccable. Sofitel Roma Villa Borghese has been our favourite so far. We...

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Tucked around the corner from the top of the Spanish Steps this hotel gives you a little bit of everything. We walked or took the subway everywhere from here so the location couldn't have been better. The rooftop restaurant/bar has wonderful views and was an amazing place to enjoy a...

We stayed here in August 2010. We had the luxury room in the corner of the last floor. Which is just so nice. A view with vatican far away. Room is of Sofitel standard, nothing to complaint. And in their terrace, we got some decent food, not excellent, but not bad. with a very nice view. Bar tender and restaurant...

I lived in Bologna for a year in college and have made several trips to Rome since, but when planning our trip to Italy (my husband's first -- Rome, Florence, Venice, Bologna) I still did a huge amount of research for hotels. We stayed in two separate places book-ending the trip -- The Hotel Minerva (near the Pantheon -- also...

We were expecting more from our stay at Rome's Sofitel. We stayed for 4 nights while on a family vacation. We had to book 2 rooms and got rooms next door to each other. My children were in one room and we were in another. One of the rooms had a loud air conditioner noise that they could not fix...

We stayed at the Sofitel Villa Borghese for 4 nights un June this year. I researched all the hotels we stayd at on Trip Adivsor and was very happy with this hotel. The taxi driver from the station to the hotel overcharged us badly and conceirge was most apologetic and very helpful with our luggage. This brightened our day. We...

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and were so helpful in planning an itinerary. Thanks to them we saw the whole of Rome within three days, at a leisurely pace, and walked to all the attractions, which was perfect. The hotel is situated near the Spanish Steps, and all the other attractions are in walking...

My wife and I stayed at the Sofitel Villa Borghese for three nights toward the end of June. From check in to departure, the Sofitel exceeded our expections. We arrived exhausted mid day on a Wednesday, and walked into a suprisingly crowded but beautful lobby. The lobby is small, with a check in desk that accomodated three staff. I was...

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighbourhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighbourhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighbourhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 20:00.
