The one good thing about this hotel is the location, but only if you are wanting something close to the main railway/metro station. Otherwise there is very little to recommend it, and there are loads of other hotels in the area which looked nicer (from the outside at least). We knew it was a basic hotel but were still disappointed....

We had two rooms in this hotel, both were good, one much larger than the other. The hotel was clean, the staff friendly and they made us feel very welcome. It is very handy to the Metro and the train station. There is wifi in the lobby and an ok breakfast. There is limited luggage space so we ended up...

This is a pleasant little place. Proximity to Termini is great. Situated on a quiet street, we had a lovely little room with a delightful balcony. Air conditioning was great, room clean and bathroom adequate for our needs. Hair dryer was supplied when requested. Staff were only too pleased to help; concierge gave great advice for tours and when we...

I stayed at the Aquarium with my family last month for 5 nights. The rooms were really big for a 2-star hotel, they cleaned and changed towels every day. Breakfast was pretty good and the staff very nice! Location is great, it´s 1 block away from the Termini train station (there are non-stop trains to Fiumicino every hour)... Subways and...

I had booked this hotel through Laterooms in early January 2010 for stay in May 2010 because of its location close to central station. However, not long after I had booked the room for 59 Euros a night, the hotel emailed me to say they will NOT honour the original booking price. Instead, they want 75 Euros a night. I...

I got a deal on this hotel from lastminute.com, and wasn't disappointed. The room was very clean and comfortable. It's right next to the train station -- a fair walk from the sights but great for me as I had to be up early to catch the express train to the airport. Staff were incredibly friendly -- allowed me to...

We got a friendly welcome upon arrival and the room was clean. The breakfast is okay if you have a sweet tooth. The neighbourhood isn't really interesting, but the proximity to Termini Station is great. For high season this room was not very expensive and you definitely get your money's worth.

Calling this place horrible is an understatement. The decor of the room was nasty and migraine inducing (clearly not been re-decorated since the 1970s), the fabric wallcovering was filthy and smelt. The room only had a small window and was so dark it resembled a prison cell. The aircon did not cool the room, however made enough noise to rival...

Recommendable. Great hotel located close to the railway station Termini. Great if you after all are out the most of the day. PROS: - Location (close to Termini and some attractions: ex Forum Romanum etc.) - Cosy hotel - Okay clean rooms in quiet neighbourhood - Small cosy family-owned hotel CONS: - Breakfast (not very inspireing)

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
