We booked a superior room here for 2 nights and am glad it wasn’t for more. The room smells very musty and doesn’t feel clean at all, when we first arrived it was full of flies - we asked reception to change rooms and were told they were full. The bathroom is tiny and very run down, there is mould on the ceiling and everywhere is heavily marked - the shelf in the shower was covered in dust and hair. The shower itself spits water in all directions as it needs descaling. The carpet in the room feels disgusting to walk on bare foot, my feet were filthy from doing so. You can hear the room next door very easily and the noise from the main road at night is very loud. Waited over half an hour to get a drink and so gave up on the rooftop bar one evening with just one member of staff serving. All the staff we’ve encountered at breakfast and reception have all been very friendly. Overall it’s a complete rip off for the price paid - great location and lovely staff but needs complete renovation and a proper clean - there is nothing at all superior about the room we stayed in.…
From arrival to departure the hotel was amazing. Do not be put off by the outside it is a modern hotel looking a bit shabby, but inside it is clean and well presented. The jewel in the crown for this hotel is the rooftop pool and bar. We decided to use the pool every afternoon about 3pm, and on arrival, we had fresh towels and a sunbed. The bar has amazing staff, so friendly and helpful, with time to engage and provide a fantastic service. The room is small but as I had no intention of being in the room all day it was fine, comfortable beds and pillows, and housekeeping serviced the room every day. The hot breakfast was disappointing, but cold breakfast excellent, and plenty of variety. Within walking distance of the hotel a wide range of bars and restaurants, we tried two and you can tell they are goof because there were all full of local residents. To sum up the whole trip it was perfect and if I went back, this hotel would be my first choice, and all our friends are interested in booking…
This hotel was booked through a website last year and the dates were unchangeable but our daughter contacted them directly and they agreed to change the dates because the second covid lockdown We had to pay a little extra because the prices had go up which we were happy with.Friendly service right from the start and throughout our stay from all the staff. The pool was bigger than I thought still small but enough for a little swim sun loungers get taken away at 7am to set up for bar table service looking on to the colosseum great for pic’s.The room was great having a couch I think it might be a pull out bed the shower was very slippery was the only thing I could remark on.The breakfast was buffet style and very good quality and the staff were consistently cleaning and refilling food very hard working staff throughout the hotel. We booked the Vatican tour from the hotel on the day of the visit and had a few time slots to pick from made it easier for us as we hadn’t made up our minds on visiting it.The Hotel is very close the the colosseum 5 min walk from Metro B line Colosseo beware line B does not run on a Sunday the nearest Metro A line is Manzoni slightly longer walk 12 min with cases.we loved our stay here and would definitely recommend this hotel and hopefully stay here in the future…
The rooms were clean but could do with some draws to store clothes in. No milk provided with tea and coffee. There's a roof top bar with a good view of the Coliseum but it was a bit chilly in the evenings and we had some rain so it would have been good to have an indoor one too. Good breakfast selection but the scrambled eggs were a bit hit and miss.
This is a modern hotel adjacent to the colosseum. Check-in was quick and informative. The room was compact but clean with good air con. Tea and coffee were supplied but no milk. Breakfast was okay with a good choice of items. The "hot" items were cold. The rooftop bar and pool opened while we were there which makes a massive difference after a day of sightseeing, with superb views of the colosseum. Termini train station is a 20 mins walk.Hotel does operate a face mask policy. Thoroughly recommend.
The hotel is clean and has a good location. I slept like a baby. The room is quite, has good air conditioning, but the only negative thing was the view. All the windows are quite small. But still would stay again - especially during summertime! Pool at the rooftop + view to the Colosseum! Breakfast is ok, services ok.
This hotel is great if you just want a base. It's clean (rooms cleaned every day with clean towels), and has a small fridge and TV. The roof terrace is closed till May which is a shame as it's already 24 degrees here now so would have been nice to chill by the pool after a day of sightseeing. Also they haven't turned on the air con in the rooms yet and it's really warm during the night. The windows are tiny and let no breeze through. Great location tho, stones throw from the Colosseum and close to subway and bus stop for getting around which is super easy. All staff are really friendly and helpful.
Be advised that the roof top terrace is closed and undergoing works. Be advised that the pool doesn't open until May to September. If I'd known this I would not have booked. Air conditioning does not work so have the door open to outside to stay cooler as air conditioning just warming up the room. When I checked in I was very disappointed with the room and the lack of pool and roof top terrace. As usual I got fobbed off by the hotel and also hotels.com. Mercure brand is total sh*t and the only thing going for this hotel is the proximity to the colluseum. That's it. Ruined this trip away and my recommendation is to book elsewhere if you want better standards.
Fantastic hotel in a brilliant location. Stayed here during our city break and cannot recommend it highly enough. Rooms are really modern, clean and well equipped. But it is the staff who make this hotel stand out, as everyone we interacted with were so friendly, helpful and just nice? I cannot put into words how good the team are, but they made out stay even more memorable
I am a loyal customer of Mercure Colosseo hotel. I always have a great time there! The rooms are small but super-equipped and quiet, the service is always friendly and professional, and the location is exceptional. I recommend it!
