On a recent visit with a friend we were made to fell very welcome. Sister Carmen speaks English, and all were happy to communicate with us in snippets of various languages. Sister Graziella needs a special mention. She is approaching her 90th birthday but still looks after the reception and exudes a joie de vivre beyond compare. The rooms are... More

Stayed at the convent with my teenage daughter for three days visiting the Vatican. Very near the Vatican (only downside was the hill to climb up - not so good for elderly people), lovely fresh food, the nuns were very helpful and kind, the room excellent with aircondtioning and very clean. Plenty of towels, lovely chapel. You could go in... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
