We stayed at Kolbe Hotel in May to visit the city before attending a wedding in Orvieto. Having been in Rome twice before I must say this hotel is well above standards. Perfect location to explore the city; you can walk everywhere and take breaks (from all the walking) during the day. At night, a couple of nice restaurants around...

After reading the overwhelmingly positive reviews about this hotel, I decided to stay here with my family during our recent trip to Rome. Frankly, I was disappointed. Perhaps my expectations were too high given all the excellent reviews this hotel received. Let's start with the location. On paper, it sounds great. The hotel faces the Roman Forum (the back of...

This is a very good hotel that ticked all the boxes except one. First off a very good location, we were there for four nights & the only time we used any transport was to get to & from the station - we walked everywhere our furthest point being the Vatican which was around a 30 minutes walk. Hotel was...

I was sorry to read "stay here at your own risk". We also stayed last week in April our experience couldn't have been more different. I booked 2 junior suites and we actually got exec suites overlooking the garden. The room was very quiet, we even left the window open at night. The bed very comfy and the sitting area...

The wife and I spent 5 days in Rome the last week of April 2010 and we chose to stay at Kolbe based on the Tripadvisor reviews, the location and affordable price compared to other 4 star hotels. Maybe the junior suites are infinitely nicer than the standard rooms. Maybe other travelers/reviewers have different standards. Maybe every good review on...

The hotel was fine, the garden lovely, but the lack of flexibility for a late arrival caused by the volcanic ash was a bit surprising. We knew we would arrive a day late and called 36 hours in advance to let them know, but we were still charged for the night we didn't stay. I found this rather disappointing.

I agree with most of the other reviewers. We chose this hotel because we got a good rate on Orbitz (around $120 a night, I think). The hotel was very nice, clean and modern. The staff were very helpful and spoke pretty good English. The complimentary city map was a huge assest! The breakfast each morning was good. The rooms...
