Only a five to ten minute walk from the train station. We're given a room at the front but was very noisy so asked to be changed and were moved to the back. Had a nice quiet room. Lovely room and lovely time. Could walk everywhere in Rome from here. Would definitely return here again.

My mother and I stayed here for a long weekend (not long enough!) the hotel is in an excellent position - not far from the train station and Spanish steps. You can also pick up a tour bus 300yards down the road. We upgraded our room for a small fee (at time of booking) and it was very pleasant, nice...

Just returned from a 3 night stay at Hotel Mascagni. It has a great location, for exploring Rome. It was a little bit noisy in the room but our room overlooked the main road so this was expected, saying that it was amazing to look out onto the hustle and bustle of Rome. Comfortable rooms were spotlessly clean the bathroom...

Booked this hotel unseen as part of a City Break with BA. Did check out trip advisor first though and glad I did as it was an excellent base for a 4 day break in Rome - close to the Termini station - that's good, don't let it put you off - you can walk to it after arriving on...

The Mascagni is in a really good central location, in the older part of Rome, and it is easy to see most of the famous sites on foot from here. Inside the decor is very tasteful, smart and bright; we had a twin room with balcony at the front, which was lovely to watch the world go by but rather...

We have just returned from our honeymoon to Rome. Stayed in the Mascagni and found it excellent for location, value for money, cleanliness and staff helpfulness. We had a bottle of champagne in the room when we arrived which made our trip feel a little more special. The staff really are the most helpful of anywhere we have been. The...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
