We are just back from a 2 night couples trip to Rome, staying at the Lirico Hotel. I'm so pleased we stayed here. With a fantastic location, the hotel was a nice 20 minute walk from the colleseum, With sights and shops/eateries on route. It was also close to many bus stops (including tour buses) and the train station, with...

Lirico is located about ten minutes from Roma Termini train station. We booked there through our travel agency and stayed for four nights on the third floor. After we entered, we had to go up a long set of stairs with our luggage to the reception, which was on the second floor. The receptionist told us we could either take...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
