I booked the cheapest 4* hotel I could possibly find..... all the prices were around €200-300 but I found this hotel for $200usd on Orbitz. We were given room #101 and I highly recommend it. It was HUGE and impeccable. The breakfast was fine to me... the lounge was very comfortable and the staff was flawless. I will be back....

We booked this hotel on hotels.com after checking out the reviews here. I was little concerned about some of the bad reviews but it sounded like a good deal for the price. We were very satisfied by the hotel once we got there. It is in a nice location, right near the Termini station and thus easily accessed from the...

We booked this hotel in central Rome,Italy thru the Entertainment Book. We got a rebate of $50---so that meant we paid before we went--less than $500 for 4 nights--with a full AMERICAN BREAKFAST. I was concerned that it might be a wrong choice but it was not. Thank you to everyone who reviews on this site. The hotel is across...

This hotel proved to be a good base for our four nights in Rome. It is very close to the main terminal and only a few minutes walk from the Repubblica stop, but we walked everywhere to balance out our indulgent meals! About 20 minutes to the Trevi, 30 to Piazza Navona and the Colosseum. The room's decor and the...

We have just returned from a city break in Rome. We thought the Mondial Hotel very good value.Very clean and the buffet breakfast was fine except for the tea and coffee. Very central we walked to most of the attractions. The city tour is a really good way to get started. We used Green Line tours but the 110 bus seems the...

This was our second stay at the Mondial. It is much better than previous reviews may lead people to believe. The problem may be the 4 star rating raises expectations that it is likely to be of a standard similar to an international chain like the Hilton or the Marriott. The Monidal is in a good location. It is directly...

Don't believe all the negative reviews about this hotel as we've recently stayed there and found it to be excellent. The location is the star attraction with the main Termini station being less than a five minute walk away. The hotel is tucked down a quiet street but all the hustle and bustle of Rome is just round the corner...

As first timers to Rome we were expecting this hotel to be worthy of its supposed four stars and relatively high price tag. Alas we were bitterly disappointed. The rooms were poorly outfitted and in desperate need of maintenance (especially the bathrooms), and if we wanted in-room tea and coffee we had to request a 'tea and coffee making kit'...

We had an awful experience in this hotel. We were shown into an incredibly noisy room initially, then one which stank of cigarettes, before accepting a small one on the top floor because it was quiet. All were extremely dated and not paticularly clean. We would have left but didn't want to waste a day hotel trawling. Later we discovered...

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone going to Rome. The rooms are shabby, decorated with old tired furniture soiled carpets and stained walls but the most worrying thing of all is that the sockets come of the wall... quite scary, I didn't use my laptop or hairdrier during my whole stay for fear of getting electrocuted. The area...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
