We spent four nights here in a twin room on the first floor. It was small but had everything we needed and, most importantly, was perfectly sound proof, especially so with the 'white noise' of the air conditioning. Our deal included breakfast which is taken on an enclosed terrace with views to die for. Proper barrista-standard coffee made just how you like it, fruit, scrambled eggs, prosciutto, ham - it was as much as we wanted. Served by charming, friendly and efficient Italians. Lots of excellent restaurants within five minutes walk and the Coliseum (with metro) and Forum on your doorstep. We had drinks on the outdoor terrace every evening watching the swifts screaming overhead. I loved the decor and that it wasn't yet another faceless chain hotel with no character. No question we'd stay here again.…
Great location for Coliseum and Forum. Short walk to Coliseum Metro which offers to connection to Vatican and Spanish Steps/Trevi areas. Rooftop bar is very popular and patrons exit and stand outside hotel to hold drunken conversations. Virtually no traffic on small side street but pedestrian traffic around hotel and neighboring restaurants exists until well after midnight. Staff helpful. Clean, comfortable rooms and bath. Bar and restaurant expensive relative to numerous good neighborhood locations a stones throw from hotel.
Great food but we’d actually finished eating before my drink arrived, my partners didn’t even turn up. Drink before you go or eat elsewhere! Apologies were given but sorry isn’t good enough in my opinion
Hotel Forum was the perfect hotel for our first time visiting Rome! The location was amazing (right in the heart fo the Roman Forum and less than a 5 minute walk to the Colosseum), the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were great (and had A/C)! Bonus-the rooftop bar "American Bar" is the perfect spot for happy hour/sunset drinks or a night cap. Would highly recommend this hotel!
A very nice hotel but somewhat dated unfortunately. They are very proud of their luxurious decor but in my view could maybe brighten it up somewhat as it did look rather dull on first entering the foyer. However that is the look they obviously went for. Hotel was very clean and front of house staff very courteous and friendly. Breakfast on top floor overlooked the forum which is the hotel's best feature. Full range of cereals, juices, meats, yoghurts and scrambled eggs. We did not dine at night in the hotel as to be honest we felt it overpriced and too formal. Also we wanted to experience real Rome and it's Piazza located restaurants as we wandered a different area each evening. Location within 10 minutes walk of Colosseum was perfect but meant it was a very busy area with traffic and pedestrians passing nearby all day. However hotel on quieter side street so not an issue with noise. We were on 4th floor with lateral view, which we discovered means we could see the forum if we looked to our right. It is worth upgrading to a room with a view if staying for a few days. Overall a fine hotel, very proud of its tradition and frequented by dignitaries and politicians on occasion. If intending to spend a lot of time around colosseum/ Forum/ Palatine then perfect.…
Having read all of the glowing reviews about the hotel I was distinctly unimpressed when we checked in. The hotel has a fabulous location. That is the best thing about it. Our room was reached by going up two floors in the elevator. Walking up a few steps, walking along a corridor, finding another elevator and going down a floor. The elevators are tiny. Two people and their luggage is a tight squeeze. The room was clean, spotless in fact, but the bedroom was in need of an update. The bed was rock hard and instead of having a double bed we had two singles pushed together and a third bed against a wall. It’s not normally a big deal having two singles pushed together but the headboards are attached to the wall, positioned for a twin room and therefore not aligned with the beds pushed together meaning I could not sit up in the bed comfortably. The view from our room was a stone wall. The room has air con May-October. It makes the noise of a working air con unit but does not satisfactorily cool the room. Thank goodness it was May and not July. The main downstairs area of the hotel has several pieces of tired furniture, some could do with a good clean, it looked a bit grubby. The worst part of our stay was the breakfast. Do yourself a favour and don’t waste your money on it, €18 a head, you can easily eat breakfast just outside the hotel for €10. Overall, the stay was a bit of a let down.…
Having decided to visit Rome for a full week, we wanted somewhere central and where a decent sized room wouldn't break the bank. Although not inexpensive, our deluxe room fit the bill perfectly and the location could not be beaten. Hotel Forum is just a short walk from the Colosseo, the various roman forums and Piazza Venezia. Most other places are are within a twenty minute walk and Rome has an excellent bus service and a rather more limited metro. We walked to the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain, Borghese Gardens, Quirinale Palace, Spanish Steps etc and discovered a bus from nearby Via Nazionale which could take us to the river close to the Vatican. With help from the hotel staff we even managed to get a combination of metro and bus out to Tivoli, east of Rome, to see the wonderful Villa d'Este. There are numerous places to eat within a two or three minute walk of the hotel and many more if you walk further. We didn't try the hotel restaurant; the menu looked good if a bit upmarket and expensive. Our room was well appointed, relatively spacious, clean and serviced efficiently each day. Breakfast on the top floor was very good with a wide choice including bacon and eggs; a big plus for UK and US visitors! We enjoyed drinks in the American Bar on a number of occasions which, like the restaurant and, indeed, our room, had a great view out towards the Via dei Fori Imperiali and beyond. Staff members were invariably friendly and helpful and seemed to work unobtrusively to ensure everything ran like clockwork. The public areas were classy and well furnished and, to be honest I'm struggling to find anything negative to say; maybe the bar prices could have been more reasonable and after three or four days I wished the Elvis Presley wannabe singing out on the street, and audible when we opened the window, would move along, but I can't blame the hotel for that! We had a great stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.…
Initially I would have given it a 2 as the single room was tiny with a window that faced a brick wall and so it was really dark. After taking a shower and going for dinner I came back to a Rome that smelt like sewage. I told the front desk and he didn’t apologise but did upgrade me free of charge to a double room which was much nicer and had no issues - there was a huge disparity between the single room and the double so be aware of this when you book. The rooftop American bar and staff were nice and friendly. The restaurant was nice but expensive. The location was excellent with the Colosseum a 5 min walk away.
Stayed for the weekend and couldn’t fault this hotel for location, service, staff friendliness and room. It’s an ideal location with great restaurants and bars near by. The roof top terrace and dining area are stunning and the quality of breakfast was really good with excellent staff. We’d definitely stay there again
Forum Hotel is a charming place--full of Italian character, very helpful staff, excellent location near the Forum, and a beautiful rooftop restaurant with spectacular views. Only problem was poor wifi in the rooms.
