After a lot of research, we were delighted to book our room at the Hotel Doria. But when we arrived on Friday evening, we were told that we had no room due to a water pipe burst but they had booked us a room at another hotel. This hotel was inferior, on the other side of the Termini Station and...

My wife and I stayed in this pleasant little hotel in late November. The room on floor five was sizeable, though the shower was indeed on the small side, as others have noted. Apart from the very limited cupboard space, somewhat crudely devised, the room offered everything one might expect from a three star hotel. Every member of staff we...

Stayed 3 nights coming from Athens Greece we found Doria hotel excellent if you don't expect deluxe service from a 3* hotel of course! The room was warm & very clean with a window overlooking Via Merulana & Santa Maria Maggiore (wonderful church) which is noisy but there 3 series of windows/shutters and once you close them you don't hear...

Booked this hotel after reading the reviews on this site and was not disappointed. Close to the Termini train station, it was very convenient as we arrived and departed Rome by train. Extremely friendly people at the front desk - very helpful in answering questions and booking us reservations at the Borghese. Very cute rooftop terrace for breakfast, although it...

We chose this hotel based on previous tripadvisor reviews. As we intended to take the train from the airport - an express taking about 25 mins and costing 9.50 euros each way , great value - we wanted somewhere near the station so that we could walk to the hotel. It can be difficult to find without a map -...

The Hotel Doria was a pleasant place to stay and not far from many of the major tourist attractions of Rome. The concierge was very helpful, the rooms were quite small but clean and the continental breakfast was excellent. The ensuite bathroom in Room 103 is very small and the tiny showers have to be seen to be believed! The...

The hotel was recommended by an independent agent specialising in Italian travel. To get there, just follow the directions given in previous posts - you can't miss it - it's the big yellow building. We stayed for 3 nights at the beginning of our holiday and 1 night at the end in different rooms. What impressed us most is how...

The hotel Doria was a charming, quiet hotel; the staff were very pleasant and helpful at all times. The rooms were clean and comfortable with air conditioning. The en suite had a shower, toilet and basin and while it was small it was clean, the space was well used and nicely decorated. I was concerned before going about the street...

Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Hotel Doria. It got off to a bad start as we simply could not find the Hotel. It is not 250 metres as some websites state from the Termini Station. It is about a 10 minute walk (that is if you walk in the right direction!) We unfortunately walked for 1hour...

Found the Hotel on a discount website after trailing through all accomodation websites. Read the great comments on Trip Advisor and made the booking. It turned out to be a fantastic hotel and great vale for money. The location was excellent as only 5 minutes from Train Station where the airport bus left us so there was not the hassle...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
