The idea was to find a hotel that was close to the Roma Termini and the maps indicated that this was close, and also on the Metro (subway) line. It is near a park, pharmacies, food courts, etc. As it turned out, the distance was much further than expected, the Metro station was blocks away (You had to go into a tunnel where you walked under the park and finally got to the station). After that first haul of out baggage from the Roma Termini, we decided to use taxes for the remainder of our four day stay (an expense that we did not count on). The hotel has a restaurant / bar on the second floor. From the lobby you step up three steps, go down a hallway to a small elevator, take it to the second floor where there is a large lounge, and then cross to another three steps up to another elevator. This one, tended to close the door on you when more than one person tried to get on, very dangerous. (I got crushed twice). This second elevator is the one you use to get to your room. The room was adequate for our purpose, i.e. rest and sleeping, toilet and shower, but like all the hotels we stayed at in Italy (Milan(2), Florence(1), Rome(1)) it had no microwave or bottle openers. Television stations were limited. Not sure of the reason, this writeup claimed you received free breakfast, we were charge 15 euro per person for ours (30 euro). The free bottled water was for the first day, and no longer (we stayed for four days). The staff did hail us a taxi when needed, and were polite, but nothing special. The room was clean, but the third day we discovered that the maids had not changed the sheets and only made the bed with what was there. There was a TV, refrigerator, and safe. The park is across the street from the hotel, and there are four pharmacies, one on each side. There are one or two places that serve food nearby, but we found it limited and poorly prepared. (Could not eat some most of it). Two or three block northeast there is an Gelato place that is one of the largest I have ever seen, and with a decent variety. We used the house restaurant one night for our meal. The place was empty except for use, and the waiter (Also bartender) took our order and disappeared for nearly twenty minutes, we figure that they do NOT have a kitchen on that floor, but maybe in the basement or they went out to a restaurant and got the meals (who knows). The meals were ok, but far from exceptional. There seemed to be a limited number of restaurants in this area. Back to the park, we walked around all four sides and through the middle, and it seemed to be clean and safe. We did not venture into or near it after dark. The neighborhood appeared to be divided into four ethnic groups (As seen by the stores and each names). We took mostly tours of the various ruins, and then the train to Napoli and to Herculaneum and back. The Roma Termini in the last week of September was jam packed with people, we found out later that this train station handles some 147,000 passenger per day. (No seats either) All in all, the stay at the hotel was ok, but turned out to not be convenient for our purposes, The cost was 106,11 euro per night -- PLUS -- 11,90 euro per night for 'fees & taxes' and --- PLUS --- 12,0 euro per night for a Resort Fee. We also racked up some 60+ euro in taxi fares. …
